Review 4800: Venice Rent Apartments, Pitter Balcony
2bed/2bath apartment in Castello (bordering San Marco and Cannaregio), Venice
October 2010, 5 nights
Fantastic location. We had a canal and bridge just outside our balcony, so there was hustle and bustle and things to watch all day, but peace and quiet at night. The apartment was away from the tourist hordes, but still an easy walk to all the sites.
Everything was within easy walking distance. Supermarket nearby and restaurants and sights to see everywhere.
The apartment had two bedrooms and two bathrooms and a great living area and smallish kitchen. It was in an historic building that had been very well renovated. There was a private entrance from a typical Venetian courtyard, with a laundry downstairs and an entrance area, then internal stairs up to the apartment. The owner's parents lived upstairs and had a separate entrance on the other side of the building, but we did not even know they were there.
You can view the property directly: Pitter Balcony.
There was a lovely little private balcony where we sat to watch the world go by.
Modern and very comfortable furnishings and a spotlessly clean apartment. The owner had also left things like washing and dish washing powder and basic kitchen supplies, which were appreciated.
Beds were very firm, but that was fine with us. Bedrooms were spacious with plenty of cupboards. There were two bathrooms, one with toilet and shower and the other was just toilet and basin. They were modern and attractive.
The kitchen was small, but well equipped. We cooked full meals for four adults every night with no problems. It had a good stove and fridge/freezer and a dishwasher.
Problems or Bonuses
We were very pleasantly surprised by the roominess of the apartment, and the lovely little balcony. We were also delighted by the location ... a surprisingly central place to stay.
Agency and Representatives (and price)
The agency was very professional and the website was very easy to use. The reality of the place was actually better than the information, if anything. We were met at the vaporetto stop by the owner, who was charming and spoke English well. We had been in phone contact with her leading up to our arrival.
Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?
We would stay there tomorrow if possible!! I would highly recommend the apartment. (even though I secretly don't want people to know about it!) If you enjoy hotel living with all the trimmings, then this is not for you, but if you wish to have a very comfortable taste of Venice, then Pitter Balcony is wonderful.
Things to do in this area
We walked and walked, and got lost many times! So much to see and do! The vaporetto stop is close if you get tired of walking!
We did not go to any restaurants at all, as we enjoyed coming home and eating/relaxing in our apartment.
