2bed/2bath apartment near Piazza Bologna, Rome WhenMay 2010, 2 weeks LocationThe apartment is located in the Nomentana section of Rome, in the general vicinity of Villa Borghese. It is on the fifth floor and is serviced by an elevator. The neighborhood is middle class, well treed and very quiet. My wife and I were seeking a rental with solitude, but also with close access to the many sights of Rome. This apartment suited our needs to a T. Nearby AmenitiesIn addition to a supermarket, there are many other stores within walking distance; including an excellent restaurant just outside the apartment building door. There is a bus stop two or three blocks away and you can reach any tourist attraction in Rome within a maximum of 30 minutes. The House/ApartmentI would guess that the apartment building was between 50 and 60 years old. No signs of deterioration were evident throughout the building. There appeared to be approximately 40 to 50 separate apartments in the building. Despite the number of apartments, it was extremely quiet during our stay. GardenNo pool or outside sitting area. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasThe furniture throughout was very comfortable and more than adequate for the three of us; (myself, my wife and daughter). We never used the dining room for our eat-in meals; instead choosing the breakfast nook in the large kitchen. Bedrooms/BathroomsMy wife and I used the king bed in one bedroom, while our daughter slept in one of the two bunk beds in the other bedroom. There are two bathrooms; one with a shower and the other with a bathtub. KitchenThe spacious kitchen had sufficient dishes, pots, pans, etc. Cooking in the kitchen was no problem since there was ample elbow room for all. All of our breakfasts were eaten at home and about half of our dinners. Problems or BonusesOne of the owners, who spoke excellent English, met us upon arrival and answered all of our many questions. The apartment was exactly as described in the owner's website ... no surprises. Agency and Representatives (and price)The total price for two weeks in May was $2600. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?I would not hesitate to recommend this rental to anyone. We spent a delightful two weeks here and intend to return. Things to do in this areaI did mention a restaurant just outside the apartment's front door. Unfortunately, I don't recall its name. The nearby supermarket carried just about anything one would need, especially the excellent deli department. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
