2bed/2.5bath near Accademia, Florence WhenNovember 2010, 3 weeks LocationAh Firenze. We were in the centre of the city close to the central market, Il Duomo and the museums on Via Ginori. Nearby AmenitiesThe apartment is very central so you can walk to all the amenities. Two grocery stores are within a block. Downstairs there is a restaurant that does take away pizza for the nights you want to collapse. The market is very close by so you can self cater with brilliant meats, cheeses, pasta. The House/ApartmentThe website presents this apartment perfectly and it is truly beautiful. The decor is lovely but it was the little touches that truly delighted us - little mints in the jar, bathroom slippers, heated towel rails, sharp knives in the kitchen, good wine glasses, beautiful soft mohair blankets for curling up, DVDs that you could watch in English when you tired of struggling with your Italian. It was lovely, quiet, block out blinds for the light. The apartment has two bedrooms on the opposite sides of a U space. The master bedroom is quite large and spacious. The second bedroom has two single beds. GardenThere is a lovely little balcony with table and chairs with plenty of green plants. It looks internally so no street view or noise. It is quite private. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasEverything was in excellent shape and we were very comfortable although we were only two in a space that would comfortably accommodate four. Bedrooms/BathroomsExcellent bed in the master bedroom with good linens. Two and a half bathrooms in the apartment. The master bathroom only has a combined tub/shower so we used the stand up shower in the second bedroom/bathroom. KitchenDining area was very good with lovely dishes, cutlery, glassware. We self catered and did a few meals at home including the typical antipasti style meal as well as pasta. The space is compact so best occupied by only one cook. Problems or BonusesThe photos of the apartment are very good so it was great to be delighted by how much better it was when we actually stayed there. It is a beautiful space and I highly recommend it. The apartment is on the second floor so there are two flights of steps to get to the front door. So it might be a challenge for people with disabilities, lots of luggage or many bags of groceries. Agency and Representatives (and price)The booking process was very efficient and the owner has excellent English skills. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others? We were here in November for three weeks and loved it. We would recommend it to other travelers who want a centre of the city experience in Florence. Things to do in this areaThere are so many restaurants in Florence nearby to this central location, you are spoiled by choice. Most convenient is the downstairs restaurant that does takeaway pizzas for the nights you want to stay in. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
