Review 4859: Owner, Beavita
2bed/1bath apartment in Padova, Veneto
Sept 25/2010-Oct 02/2010, 1 week
We stayed(husband and I) at Beavita apartment for a week in Autumn 2010. It is a lovely apartment located in a quiet residential neighborhood in the city of Padua. It consists of two bedrooms(one with a queen-size bed-the other with twin beds), a good-size bathroom and combined living room/kitchen area. Extremely clean, cozy and comfortable, it was the perfect place to return to after days of sight-seeing in Padua and the Veneto.
While it may seem trivial, I must point out that Beavita had an awesome shower that didn't leave water pooling all over the floor-actual shower doors! It's been our experience, having traveled to Italy several times, that our accommodation, usually apartments, had poor shower facilities, that is, a drain hole in the bathroom floor with a shower curtain that didn't hold the water in, resulting in a soaked bathroom. Like I said, it may seem trivial but it's a little annoying having to use all provided towels to sop up the wet mess after every shower-trust me! Anyway, it was a great treat to discover Beavita's shower was contained.
Laura and Enrico, the owners were very welcoming. We were unfortunately delayed upon arrival in Padua as we had to find our travel mates apartment first so we called Laura late in the afternoon-hours after we had arrived. She was very understanding and met us with Enrico outside our friends apartment and showed us the way to Beavita; we had rented a car. They showed us a convenient place to park the rental car, which was only a few blocks from Beavita. We couldn't park on the street of the apartment - very narrow. They also showed us a Grocery store(Ali), the Celso bakery, a take-out pizza place(yes, take-out in Italy!) and other little restaurants that might be of interest all within walking distance of Beavita - we went to all of them!
The owners also explained what we'd find in the apartment - what would be available for us to use - WiFi, cooking amenities, TV, etc., all of which was very helpful, particularly, maps and guide books and restaurant guides. They answered all our questions and offered assistance to us anytime we needed it.
We thoroughly enjoyed Padua - what a lively, clean, safe city! We were really surprised how much we enjoyed the town on our few days there - there's quite a lot of beauty, charm and history, of course. We chose Padua as a central place to base ourselves for travel in the Veneto - to visit Lake Garda and the small towns where my husband's grandparents came from but Padua proved to be the real highlight of the trip!
We would definitely stay at Beavita again; it had a comfortable, restful vibe that was fantastic to come home to. By the way, we also had everything to enjoy home-cooked meals in the apartment but hey, we were on vacation in Italy! Why cook when you're surrounded by such great Italian restaurants and delis!
