Review 4867: Owner, Ca' Bianca

Review by Luisa from CA who is a SlowTrav Contributor

1bed/1.5bath apartment in Cannaregio, Venice

October 2010, One week

We stayed in the Ca' Bianca apartment for a week in October 2010. It is a nice apartment, very quiet, with only a five minute walk to the busy Strada Nova and the Ca' d'Oro vaporetto stop. You really couldn't ask for a better location than the Cannaregio. From there you can walk to anything within fifteen minutes; the train station, Jewish ghetto, San Marco area are an easy walk.

The apartment is also within an very close to restaurants, shops, bars and a Billa market. There are four bridges to cross between the vaporetto and apartment, so it helps if you don't have more than one piece of luggage each.

The bed in the only bedroom is very comfortable. The bedroom has ample storage and hanging space and a large window. If the sofa bed in the living room is used as a second bedroom you might find the dense piece of foam used as a mattress doesn't give much support if you have any type of back problems. If that room is being used as a second bedroom, it only has a small amount of storage space and no hanging space at all.

The bathroom is adequate with a nice sink with storage, large mirror, good lighting, commode and bidet, along with a box shower and a large window. There is no bathtub. The utility room where the cleaning supplies and washing machine are located has a small sink and another commode.

The kitchen is well equipped with a table that sits four. We did no cooking, except for breakfast, but there is a microwave, gas stove and plenty of dishes and cooking utensils. The only things I found wrong with the apartment are: the linens and towels could use updating, and the owner could add a little more lighting to the apartment. It can be very dark during the day, especially if the weather is overcast and rainy as it was several days of our stay.

We enjoyed being right on the corner with a canal on each side. You could almost reach out and touch the water taxis motoring by. We felt very safe walking home late at night. We worked with Eva (owner) directly. She speaks perfect English and is delightful to communicate with. Eva lives outside Venice, so she had her representative meet us at the train station and accompany us by vaporetto to the apartment. Her representative's English was limited, but we had no trouble communicating and she left a binder of information regarding the apartment and the area, she was also very pleasant and helpful.

I would definitely recommend this apartment to friends and family.

You can view the property directly: Ca'Bianca.
