1bed/1bath house in Civitella Marittima, Tuscany West WhenOctober, 2010, 1 week LocationCasina di Rosa is located in the small village of Civitella Marittima. The house is very quiet, and the only sounds you hear are from the locals visiting with each other when the windows are open. This cottage is in a perfect location, only one mile from the highway that runs between Siena and Grosseto. Nearby AmenitiesThe town is small and you can easily walk everywhere in town. In the village, there are two bars, two small grocery stores, two bakeries, a butcher, and a fresh-pasta store. There's several restaurants nearby, but you must visit Locanda Nel Cassero, right in town. It's one of the best restaurants in Tuscany! The House/ApartmentThe house was built in the late 1800's. It's a wonderful house to stay in. We stayed there in 2007 and thought the layout was perfect, but in 2010 the owners remodeled and it is even more perfect. There is one bedroom/sitting area, one bathroom , and a wonderful kitchen stocked with everything you could ever want. There is also a washing machine. GardenThere is not a garden, but you can easily sit on the front porch or steps and visit with the locals who walk by. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasThe house and furnishings are in perfect condition. The house is spotless. Bedrooms/BathroomsThe bed is very comfortable, as long as you like extremely firm beds. There are extra blankets and pillows in the wardrobe. On one side of the bedroom is a sitting area, with a sofa and love seat, coffee table, dresser and television. The bathroom is is updated, and contains a sink, toilet, bidet, and small showers. The bath towels are extra-large. KitchenThe kitchen is one of the areas that has been totally renovated, and it is wonderful. New counter tops, stove/oven, etc. It is a full kitchen, extremely well stocked, and allows you to do as much cooking as you would like. There's also spices, olive oil from the owner's father, sugar, etc. provided. There is a working fireplace in the kitchen, and a dining table that seats four. Problems or BonusesThere are no problems at all with this house. The owners are extremely nice to work with, and will help you in any way they can. Agency and Representatives (and price)You book directly with the owners, and all goes smoothly. They both speak English. The prices are extremely reasonable. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?I would highly recommend this cottage to anyone. We've stayed there twice now, and the only reason we wouldn't stay next time is if we visit a different location. You will be very happy with this rental. Things to do in this areaThere is a lot to do nearby. You really do need to rent a car to see a lot in this part of Tuscany. From Civitella Marittima, it's very easy to do day trips to Siena, Montalcino, Montepulciano, Sant' Antimo Abby, the coastal area, and many other areas. If you stay here, plan on eating a minimum of one meal at Locanda Nel Cassero. It will be one of the best meals you'll eat on your trip to Italy.
