2bed/2bath apartment near Colosseum, Rome WhenFeb 2011, one week LocationQuiet street in a good location half way between the Colosseum and Piazza San Giovanni in Laterano. The area felt safe at all times. There is a bus stop right outside the apartment, with more buses and two metro stops within walking distance. Nearby AmenitiesShops, restaurants, ATMs were all on the same street or within a very short walking distance. The House/ApartmentThe apartment was in a typical historical (I think) building with maybe another five or six apartments in the same building. The apartment was on the first floor (American). The building did not have an elevator. The place was generally peaceful and quiet, although the neighbors seemed to have a penchant for disco music and on some evenings, especially Saturday, we could hear the beat late into the night. The apartment was small - the space worked well for us (a family of three) but I think it may be a bit challenging for two couples. GardenThere is a small balcony that could be used for drying laundry but not for sitting outside. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasFurniture was in good shape and functional, with sufficient sitting space for four people. Bedrooms/BathroomsThe beds were hard but comfortable. The larger bedroom was a good size, the smaller one did not have much space around the bed but it was functional. One bathroom was large and clean, with a good sized shower and a washing machine. The second bathroom was also clean but super tiny and had no heat so it was practically unusable during our stay (February = cold). KitchenKitchen was well equipped, with all the basics but I would not cook a full meal there because the counter space was very limited. But it was perfectly serviceable for preparing breakfasts and snacks. Problems or BonusesNo surprises, the apartment was as advertised. Agency and Representatives (and price)Dealing with the owners while making reservations was a pleasure. They were prompt and responsive. We did not meet them while in Rome as they were away but the owners' representative was waiting for us when we arrived and was very helpful with information and recommendations. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?Yes. Things to do in this areaThe apartment provides easy access to all major Rome attractions (walking distance or easy to get to on public transportation). There are plenty of good neighborhood type restaurants and pizzerias within a very short walking distance. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
