2bed/1bath apartment near Positano, Campania
WhenSeptember 2010, 5 days LocationThe B&B/vacation rental is about a 20 minute walk south of Positano. There is a bus stop just up the street. It is on the Amalfi Coast Drive. Nearby AmenitiesYou must go to Positano for groceries. This is a B&B with apartments, so they serve coffee and breakfast in the morning. There is also a great restaurant close by that will send a driver to pick you up - La Taverna del Leone. The House/ApartmentNot historical, but very peaceful and quiet. The property has several apartments. GardenThere are some really nice common areas around the grounds of the B&B, and there is a beach down below - way down below. No pool though. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasThe apartment was fine, two bedrooms and a kitchen with a dining room. The kitchen is the common area. It is not glamorous by any stretch of the imagination. But the view of the sea is fantastic. We had ants in the apartment, but I saw ants everywhere in Positano. The apartment could use some love - there were screens in the windows, but they were broken. Bedrooms/BathroomsThe beds were comfortable, the bathroom big and clean. KitchenThe kitchen is fine for small meals. Problems or BonusesHoliday House Gilda is a cross between a vacation rental and a B&B - you get an apartment with a kitchen, but they serve you a huge breakfast every day. The family that runs the place - Gilda, Giuseppe, Rosa and Daniela - are some of the nicest, friendliest people I have ever met in my travels. They really go the extra mile to make their guests feel at home. Breakfast is served in a large room with the same fabulous ocean view as we had in our apartment. For breakfast you are served not only pastries and yogurt, but toast, sometimes eggs, sometimes pancakes. They'll keep bringing it if you'll keep eating it. One morning they served a cake to someone on their birthday - a complete surprise to the guest, who was very touched by the gesture. Agency and Representatives (and price)It was easy to book. Only one of the family speaks English, Rosa. We paid only €90 per night. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?I would definitely stay here again. We fell in love with the family. Things to do in this areaWe had a good meal at La Taverna del Leone mentioned above. We also liked eating at the beach taverns at Formillo beach.
