Review 4951: Owner, Villa La Tagliata
3bed/3bath house in Praiano, Campania
September 2010, 1 week
This beautiful villa is located in the heart of Praiano, a small town close to Positano and Amalfi. The views are absolutely breathtaking. You can look out over the beautiful blue sea from every window. I just loved getting up early in the morning, making fresh coffee, looking out over the sea from the beautiful terrace, listening to the birds, and the sea.
There are restaurants and shopping within walking distance. The market is less than a five minute walk from the villa. You can find fresh vegetables and fruits, wine, cold cuts and meats. All of the basics. You can also have a delivery right to the villa.
The bus stop is a very short walk and you can be in Amalfi or Positano in 10-15 minutes depending on the time of day and local traffic. The buses are very simple and inexpensive. Great way to travel back and forth without the worry of parking. There is also private parking with a remote control gate. Unlike a lot of the area, the walk to the villa has a nice winding path. Not many steps which is nice after a day of site seeing in the nearby towns.
The villa is spectacular. It is decorated very nicely. It was also very clean and well maintained with tile floors and wonderful tiled bathrooms. The master bedroom on the first floor has a private bathroom with a jacuzzi tub and large sink and bidet. The second bathroom is accessible from the living room and has a shower, bidet, and sink. The second floor bedroom is also very nice. My daughter and her fiance stayed in the upper room. Stained glass walls and a window with, of course, a beautiful view of the sea. The living room opens up to a large terrace. You can sit outside and enjoy the breeze and fresh air and the spectacular views. The kitchen is also very nice. Gas cook top, large refrigerator and everything else you will need to cook fabulous fresh meals. There is a separate apartment a few steps up from the main villa. Two people could stay here. It also has its own private bathroom and shower.
The private terrace is wonderful. Lovely table and chairs to relax and enjoy a nice glass of wine and some local cheeses and meats. Great for a lazy late afternoon or a romantic evening.
The furniture is lovely. Very clean and comfortable. Large dinning room table and chairs. Easily seats six. Plus you have the table and chairs on the terrace. The living room has a beautiful long sofa and chair. There is WiFi and a satellite TV if you choose to catch a little news or show from the US.
Beds were very comfortable. Fresh, clean linens. There is plenty of room for all of your belongings. I could have stayed for a month and had more than enough room. The bathrooms again were very nice and clean. Beautiful tile work and decorations. The water pressure was also very good.
The kitchen was very usable. Plenty of pots and pans and dishes for entertaining. Very good quality. It was fun to cook in a real Italian kitchen, sipping wine, looking out over the sea and trying desperately to speak at least a little Italian.
Problems or Bonuses
Great surprises as the owners own a fabulous restaurant in the hills of Positano. It is a casual, family restaurant, packed with lots of fun. The food is so amazing and there is live music on some nights and Tuesday nights they have Napolitan Tarantellaso, which features traditional foods of the area. Make sure you go with an empty stomach. You will want to try everything from the fresh grilled meats, homemade pastas, delicious vegetables, and save room for desert. All made fresh everyday by the family. You will end the evening with a sip of limoncello and maybe a nice hot espresso. Everyone at La Tagliata will make you feel like family. I was only in Praiano for a week, but it was a week I will remember for a lifetime.
Agency and Representatives (and price)
Giorgia, the owner was one of the nicest, sweetest, most accommodating person I have ever met. I do a lot of traveling and Giorgia was amazing. She directed us to the best local restaurants, helped us with the buses and traveling back and forth to the various towns. She helped us with all of our questions, even great recommendations on wine and local shopping spots. Her English is very good and she is very easy to reach in case you need anything.
Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?
I would absolutely stay here again. My daughter will be spending her honeymoon here in 2012. I have already booked her stay. I would recommend Villa La Tagliata to anyone that would like to experience true Italian living in a most spectacular setting. You will feel like a local within a few days of your arrival. I will be back again this September. I would recommend booking as soon as you make your travel arrangements. This is a beautiful place and you will not find many like it in this area for this pricing. It is very reasonable and a great deal for all that you get when you stay here.
