9bed/5bath villa in Bucine, Tuscany East WhenApril 23- 29, 2011, 1 week LocationVilla Del Teatro is located in Bucine in a private location on the edge of town. Nearby AmenitiesCOOP supermarket one block away; train station one block away; restaurants and bars in the center of town one to two blocks away. The House/ApartmentThe villa is historical and in excellent shape. Although on the edge of town, it was quiet, peaceful, and felt as though it was located in a more rural location. There are four floors with bedrooms and bathrooms on each level, so stairs are the only access. The owner lives next door but is accommodating and unobtrusive. You can view the property directly: Villa del Teatro. GardenSeveral sitting areas outside that were very private. One amazing sitting area overlooked the beautiful Tuscan valley. There is also a pool on the property, which is private as well. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasThe furniture was in excellent condition and the house clean. The dining room table can be extended to accommodate up to 16, with a wonderful fireplace at the end of the room. There are four living areas, three on the ground floor and one with excellent views on the fourth floor. Bedrooms/BathroomsBeds were comfortable and bedrooms well-appointed. There are five bedrooms with doubles, two with one single, and two with with two singles. There are four full bathrooms with showers, and one half-bathroom on the ground floor off of the kitchen. Bath and hand towels provided in all bathrooms. The hot water heater is tankless, so there is always hot water available (although those bathrooms on the third floor did not receive as much hot water as the others). KitchenThe kitchen is a good size, with a breakfast table to accommodate at least six people. There is a stove, oven, open hearth, dishwasher, washing machine. There is also a barbecue outside. Problems or BonusesThe location is incredible. Our group did not rent a car; we used the train to visit Florence (1 hour away), Arezzo (25 minutes away), Venice (3 1/2 hours away), Rome (2 1/2 hours away), Pisa (2 hours away), and Siena (2 hours by train and bus). The owner is friendly, accommodating, and is willing to go out of his way to ensure you have an excellent experience. Agency and Representatives (and price)Excellent service by the owner of Vesta Italian Villas. Prompt, clear on all costs and responding to questions, and wonderful with both making suggestions on travel ideas once in Italy as well as offering a wealth of information on the website. The place was better than advertised! Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?I would highly recommend this vacation rental to groups of 10 or more. I can't imagine a better place to stay in Tuscany that is so accessible to all that central Italy has to offer. Things to do in this areaThere are restaurants, bakeries, a gelateria, a pharmacy, a well-stocked COOP supermarket, all within walking distance. The town is rustic, quaint, and offers excellent walking tour possibilities. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
