1bed/1.5bath apartment in Spello, Umbria WhenApril 2009, 1 week LocationLocated within the walls of the town of Spello, walking distance to the Piazza della Republica, Fantastic panoramic view of the Umbrian valley. Far from car. Must park either inside town (Piazza della Republica, free from 20:00 to 09:00, then €1/hr), or outside the town walls, which was a longer walk. Nearby AmenitiesWalking distance to bakery and markets. The House/Apartment14th century totally and beautifully refurbished home with four apartments. We stayed in Augustus, a two-story apartment. Very quiet. GardenNo pool, but a beautiful and large private garden/eating area/deck, with the drop-dead views of the Umbrian valley. There is also a well in the garden. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasExposed stone walls throughout. Giant hearth in living room. Decorated with Deruta ceramics and middle-eastern touches. Extremely clean and comfy. Plenty of couches and space to stretch out and relax. Powder room on the living room level. Control heat/air-conditioning on both levels. DSL Internet access. TV/CD/DVD player. No satellite TV. Bedrooms/BathroomsBedroom upstairs - large, beautiful furniture and linens. Washing machine. Full bath/two sinks with shower and bidet, good water pressure, hair dryer. Firm mattress, nice pillows. KitchenModern fully equipped kitchen. Bottle of wine to greet us. Fridge/freezer. Better equipped than my own kitchen. Problems or BonusesThis place is very well represented on its website. I would say it's even more beautiful in person. Agency and Representatives (and price)We dealt with the owner via email to reserve, and answer all questions. She was easy to deal with and very helpful. She was not there during our visit, but had a local woman named Nadia who greeted us when we arrived and showed us everything in the apartment, along with instructions. Her English was weak. In the apartment were almost unlimited resources in the way of booklets, pamphlets, folders, photos, providing information about the apartment, the area, recommended places to eat, visit, drives, walks. Nice reading library in the apartment, too. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?Without hesitation, yes. Things to do in this areaYou're in Umbria. Eat, relax, enjoy! Unlimited things to do. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
