1bed/1bath apartment in Dorsoduro, Venice WhenMay 2011, 2 weeks LocationVery near the San Basilio vaporetto stop (250 meters) and the Billa supermarket 250 meters as well. Very quiet except for around the clock church bells. Loved the area, walking on the Zattere very peaceful esp in early mornings or evenings. Nearby AmenitiesVery close to large Billa, cafe Suzi 175 meters many restaurants in the area. Campo San Barnaba five-minute walk. The House/ApartmentThe building was old and had some character, ground floor no stairs, in small Campo with six to eight other apartments. Quiet except for church bells and an occasional boat going by our window. GardenNo formal outdoor area, I suppose you could set up the table in the small Campo if you are adventurous. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasGood modern furniture, couch, glass counter and table, clean and comfortable. Bedrooms/BathroomsPeg thought the bed was just okay, I thought it was better than most. Second pullout was comfortable to read on. One bathroom with shower curtain not booth, plenty of towels. KitchenEnough pots and pans etc. I left six wine glasses; I hope the manager leaves them. Knife not sharp bring one. It now has a small American coffee maker, we had to ask for it despite promise it would be there on arrival. Problems or BonusesNo air conditioning, TV Italian only and difficult to figure out, you needed to unplug it every time then plug it back in to get it to work. I understood that someone would clean after the first week, that never happened. Agency and Representatives (and price)It worked out to €110/day, cheaper than a hotel. We might stay there again but not during any hot period. Agent spoke English. They could have given us more info on how things worked like the garbage schedule etc.( we needed to figure recycling out etc.) As above, I thought apartment was to be cleaned after one week. There were plenty of towels etc., but they piled up, not really a big problem. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?Yes as above not in May through September or so unless a fan is okay and you don't care for air conditioning, Very reasonable price! Things to do in this areaWestern Dorsoduro, good area, quiet, felt like home. Good things all over. Don't miss San Sebastiano church!
