3bed/2bath apartment near Piazza del Popolo, Rome

When

May 21, 10 Days

Location

The apartment was next to Piazza del Popolo This was so convenient to everything. At first we were not sure of the area, but we found that we could not have been in a better location. It is also walking distance to the Pantheon and the Spanish Steps. We walked everywhere. It was a great location.

Nearby Amenities

In the square block of apartment we found, a market, also an open market, a wonderful cafe, a place to get wine, a computer store, a phone store, as I had trouble with my cell. The subway, buses, taxi. Everything was close. There were several places to eat near by.

The House/Apartment

Sixth floor with lift. The apartment was larger than we thought, and was a penthouse. It also has a phone by the front door for allowing guests into the building, very safe.

Because it was the penthouse, it was so quiet and relaxing. On one side of the living room, two large sliding doors can create an extra bedroom thanks to a red sofa that can be converted into two single beds. That gives a lot of privacy. It will sleep eight people if needed. As the living room sofa is also a sleeper. But it was wonderful for three. That gave us our own space.

There is an entry way as you enter the apartment. Then a very open and airy living room with high ceilings and a formal dining room. Then the long hall way, on the left was a door going into the kitchen, down a ways another door to the second full bath. Across from that a bedroom with a large bed, and access to the balcony, next to that was another bedroom with twin beds, with access also to the balcony.

From the kitchen and third bedroom you entered the terrace. Off of the kitchen was a small room for ironing.

You can view this property directly: Popolo.

Garden

There is also a balcony, overlooking the beautiful buildings of the past century. The balcony runs the length of the apartment. You could see the Dome on the Vatican from there. The terrace over looks the courtyard and other buildings. Lots of plants on the terrace, and it was very large. We enjoyed many evenings there after a long day of walking the city.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

It was furnished just beautifully. Lots of places to sit and relax. The floors were wood, and they shined like new. The whole apartment was open and airy, bright even on a rainy day. So many windows. It also had air-conditioning; we only had to use once.

Bedrooms/Bathrooms

The bedrooms were done very nicely lots of closet space, beds were very comfortable. Big heavy glass doors leading to the balcony.

The bathrooms were perfect. One had a tub, one a shower. Very clean, with windows. Lots of fresh air and light.

Kitchen

The large kitchen is fully equipped and has also a breakfast area. The washing machine, as usual is in the kitchen. There is a little room off of it to do ironing in if you so choose. Very modern. It has a full size stainless steel fridge, four-burner stove, lots of cabinets, double sink plenty of dishes and large windows with lots of light.

We fixed several meals there. We even had a get together there; I was able to fix everything in the kitchen.

Problems or Bonuses

I can tell you the pictures on Sleep in Italy's site do not show how grand this apartment really is.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

I have used them before. I have never been disappointed. They have been wonderful to me. A few years back I had to cancel, they applied credit to this apartment from that. They will answer your questions. The only thing I hate is that I can not pre-pay for apartment before I go. But, I will always use them when I go to the areas in which they rent.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

When I return to Rome I will always stay in the Piazza del Popolo area. I for sure will stay here again. I would recommend it to any small group, you will not be disappointed. The lift was handy for the sixth floor penthouse. Well worth the money. We are three women in our 60s in fact I turned 64 while I was in Rome, and we walked the whole city from there.

Things to do in this area

You can walk to anywhere from here. I was very bad and did not write down names of where we ate always. I will say one of the best dinners we had was in the Piazza Giuseppe Mazzini area, this is not a tourist place. It was over the bridge from apartment and a bit of a walk but so worth it. We walked home about 11:00pm and felt very safe, just three women. Mostly locals dine there. We sat outside and had a fantastic meal. Fresh, not frozen. Specials menu was all in Italian. But our waiter helped us. He was great. Risorante Ulisse. I will always go back there. So many wonderful locals. Like a breath of fresh air.
