2bed/1bath cottage near Marsala, Sicily

Location

This was a small guest house on the owners larger property. It was a few kilometers outside of Marsala, in a rural setting. The entire property (including the owners home) was walled in and very private. The grounds and pool were shared with the owner. The owners house was far enough away that there was privacy.

Nearby Amenities

The closest coffee bar was less than a kilometer, but the road did not lend itself to walking. The market was 2-3 km away.

The House/Apartment

The cottage was very nice, very peaceful. It had a private patio on the back side. This was the only home, besides the owners house, on the property.

Garden

There were sitting tables/chairs in the front and back of the cottage. There was a very nice pool, shared with the owners. The landscaping was very nice, with a flagstone path from the cottage to the pool. There was a nice outdoor shower in the pool area.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

The furniture was basic, but comfortable.

Bedrooms/Bathrooms

The beds were okay. Not the best mattresses we've had, but we slept fine. The bathroom was functional and nice, although the shower stall was very small.

Kitchen

The kitchen was usable. We cooked most dinners there. It would have been nice to have more counter space, but we made it work.

Problems or Bonuses

The owners were very friendly and helpful. It was pretty warm at night so they got us a fan. They were easy to work with.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

The onsite person was the owner. The agency dealings were all online, and were fine.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

This was a good family rental for people who want a pool in Northwestern Sicily.

Things to do in this area

We loved the town of Erice. We did day trips to Segeste, Erice, Monreale, Selinunte, Trapani, as well as exploring Marsala, Mozia, and the salt marshes.
