apartments on the outskirts of Perugia, Umbria

When

July 16-29, 2011, 14 days

Location

On a country road on the outskirts of Perugia but only about a 15 minute walk to Perugia center.

Nearby Amenities

The nearest grocery store was a five minute walk down the country road and the coffee shop was less than 10 minutes away. It only took about 15 minutes for us to walk to central Perugia from the Villa Nuba (we also took the bus and we could buy bus tickets from the tobacco shop five minutes away) we did not need a car to get around as the bus and train services were excellent.

The House/Apartment

The Del Pinturicchio apartment at the Villa Nuba was exceptionally clean and very modern, included a full kitchen with dishwasher and gas stove, large living and dining area, a large bathroom with jacuzzi and a big balcony that overlooked the Umbrian hills. Everything we needed was available to us in the apartment. There are two other apartments there but each of them has a private entrance. The location was beautiful up in the hills and it was very peaceful to sit on the balcony or on the patio and listen to the birds singing.

Garden

All the individual patios and sitting areas were nice and private and there was even a covered area for guests to have a barbecue. The property includes lovely gardens with lots of potted plants and many olive and pine trees. The cypress trees are also abundant and the view from the apartment balcony is superb with a great view of the Umbrian hills.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

The furniture was in great shape and we were very comfortable in the apartment. There were only three of us sharing the space but there was more than adequate seating for us all. The colors were lovely and there were lots of comfy pillows to snuggle up with throughout. This is truly a "home away from home."

Bedrooms/Bathrooms

There were two big bedrooms with and a pull out couch in the living room so we had enough space for the three of us to sleep comfortably. I think that the actual sleeping space would be enough for six people. The beds were very comfortable and the bedrooms were nicely decorated with nice linens and bedspreads, throw pillows and pictures etc. There was one big bathroom for us to share and it included a jacuzzi tub which we made use of every day during our stay.

Kitchen

The kitchen was great and we cooked full meals daily. There is a gas stove, a dishwasher and a large fridge and microwave so we didn't lack any major appliance. The pots and pans were more than adequate and we loved cooking in our Villa Nuba kitchen!

Problems or Bonuses

None that I can think of.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

The owner Giuseppe and his family live on site and this is a huge bonus because they make you feel very welcome and part of the family while you are there. Nothing went wrong during our stay but if we had any questions concerning day trips etc., we were able to ask Giuseppe right away. This is a huge bonus and much nicer than dealing with an off site agency.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

I would definitely stay here again and I have already recommended the Villa Nuba to some of my friends. This property is excellent!!

Things to do in this area

We visited central Perugia many times and also took day trips to Assisi (by bus); we also arranged for Giuseppe to give us a guided tour of Gubbio and a wine tasting trip to Montefalco and Toregiano. We ate at many of the local restaurants in Perugia and they all provided good service, great food and excellent prices.
