2bed/2bath house in Gualdo Tadino, Umbria WhenJuly 2011, One week LocationIn the small town of Gualdo Tadino in Umbria. Central, close to other buildings. Great location. Beautiful views from all windows. A very "Italian" town with few tourists and hardly any people who spoke English. We didn't speak Italian and this was not a problem, everyone was friendly and helpful. Nearby AmenitiesOnly a few minutes walk to grocery stores and restaurants. The house is a short walk from the bus station. We didn't have a car, it wasn't a problem, one can get to nearby towns by bus or train, though some destinations would require a car. The House/ApartmentHistorical building, in very good shape. Very peaceful. Kitchen, living and dining room downstairs, two bedrooms upstairs, one bathroom on each floor. GardenNo outside sitting area, but there is a park not far away. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasThe furniture was in good shape, comfortable and clean. There were four chairs in the dining room, and a sofa and more chairs in the living room. The living room had a DVD player as well as lots of DVDs, books and games. Bedrooms/BathroomsThe bedrooms and bathrooms were very nicely decorated and the beds were comfortable. There was plenty of storage space for our clothes. KitchenThe kitchen was very well stocked with pots and pans and attractive pottery dishes. There were also lots of spices and other basic ingredients for cooking. I prepared several meals there and always enjoyed it. Problems or BonusesThere was a lovely welcoming basket upon our arrival with food and wine for our first meal as well as fruit and cookies. Agency and Representatives (and price)I won this rental on a bid for charity, so the owner donated the rent to a couple of good causes, which was very generous of her. She was very prompt and helpful in all her emails before we arrived. The onsite person did not speak much English but her daughter was around and spoke fluent English. The house was exactly as described on the web site. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?Yes, I would stay here again and would recommend it to friends. Things to do in this areaWe went on a lovely hike up the mountain, we took the bus to the lovely town of Gubbio one day, but mostly we just hung around Gualdo Tadino and absorbed the charming local atmosphere.
