Review 5108: Sleep in Italy, Falegnami
2bed/1bath apartment near Campo dei Fiori, Rome
May 30 - June 3, 2011, 4 nights
This apartment is located in the Campo dei Fiori neighborhood and is central to all the main sights. You can walk to most everything and there is a wonderful market just a short walk away. Falegnami is a small, quite lovely street with many apartments and not much traffic. We felt very safe and were able to walk all over even late into the evening without any concerns.
Directly downstairs there was a coffee shop with breakfast and lunch, I think. Also, a few steps away was a small restaurant. Down and across the main street was a wonderful gelato shop and a pizza carry out and restaurant, which was quite good. Our teenage grandchildren loved them both. Many, many restaurants nearby and a wonderful outdoor market just a few minutes away.
The apartment was exactly as the pictures show it and it was clean and comfortable. I don't know how many apartments are in this building as we never saw any other people coming and going, but could have one upstairs. We never heard anything so we're not sure. Everything in the apartment seemed to be in working order.
You can view the property directly: Falegnami.
No outside sitting area or pool.
The furniture was in good shape and comfortable, very clean, and we had enough sitting room for all four of us to eat or play games. Everything was very nice and we were very much at home once we settled in.
The beds were a bit firm, but very nice. Lots of closet space in the master bedroom and some in the single bedroom. The bathroom was quite large and very clean also. Both rooms had windows but the one in the single bedroom faced a building and was not very attractive, but didn't concern us.
Coffee maker was not one that we were familiar with so we just went out for coffee. Refrigerator and washing machine worked well and although we had originally thought we would cook, there were just too many nice restaurants to try! All the necessary tools were there if you wanted to cook.
Problems or Bonuses
Actually, no surprises good or bad (which is a good thing from my point of view). It was all we had hoped it would be from the photos. I am always a bit concerned when renting something I've never seen, but we were all quite happy with the apartment. Had a window overlooking the street in the kitchen and in the bedroom. Weather was beautiful so that we could keep them open.
Agency and Representatives (and price)
Sleep in Italy was very easy to work with although I can't for the life of me find the woman's name who we dealt with. Ohle was the onsite person (very good English)and she showed us everything in the apartment and answered all of our questions. Never needed to contact her at all, just left the keys in the apartment. Our rental price was €130 per night and there was a cleaning charge of €45, I think. (Wish I had written this report sooner when I had all my papers handy). In any event it was a very good price as I had shopped around quite a bit and we were very satisfied!
Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?
We would definitely stay here again and would definitely recommend it to my best friend! Would love to repeat this trip in the near future!!
Things to do in this area
Since we've been to Rome many times, we concentrated on taking our grandchildren to all the most famous sites and spent a lot of time just roaming the wonderful streets of Roma, our very favorite city!!
