2bed/2bath apartment near Campo dei Fiori, Rome WhenAugust 2011, 5 nights LocationThis is a lovely apartment on a narrow pedestrian street one block from the Campo dei Fiori market. Nearby AmenitiesWe bought fresh fruits/vegetables each morning at the market, then went to the grocery store right around the corner for other ingredients. Multiple small restaurants on the street, or in the piazza. The House/ApartmentThe building is in what we would call a townhouse. The Blue apartment is on the first floor, which is one flight up. There is an elevator. There are several other apartments in the building. We did not see anyone else in the building, very quiet. We had plenty of space, the apartment is in excellent shape. There are air conditioners in each room, washer and dryer, hair dryer. We loved opening the windows in the living room to people-watch and hear the street noise. There are double paned windows in the bedrooms and we did not hear a thing at night. The living room has single pane windows, might be a little noisy if someone is sleeping on the sofabed. GardenNo patio, but we opened the windows or just walked outside. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasEverything was clean and in excellent shape. Bath towels are provided. There was some toilet paper and hand soap, but best to bring your own supplies, or you can purchase items in the grocery store. Since it is not a hotel, you need to bring your own shampoo, laundry detergent, dish washing liquid, etc. Bedrooms/BathroomsTwo bedrooms, one with a queen bed, one with two twin beds. Very comfortable. Two bathrooms that were in excellent condition. There is a sofabed, but we did not use that. KitchenThe fridge is small, a little bigger than dorm size, but perfectly sufficient for four people for a few nights. No oven, but there are two burners and a microwave. There is a dishwasher. We made breakfast and one other meal each day. Perfectly suitable for meal prep. All dishes, utensils, etc. were provided. Problems or BonusesThe only surprise was how much we loved the apartment. I would never want to stay in a hotel again! Great to have space to relax after a day of touring. Agency and Representatives (and price)Cristina, the owner, was very responsive to all emails. We did not meet her as I believe she was on vacation while we were there. Someone met us at the door, gave us the keys and instructions. There is a book of instructions for local sites, how to use the appliances. We decided to pay cash, €1060 for five nights, which was the cheapest way to rent (higher price for other payment methods). Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?Yes! Things to do in this areaWe really felt like we were living in Rome. Lots of nightlife in the Campo dei Fiori square, very close to buses and major attractions. You can really walk to most sights, but we decided to take the bus to most places since we did enough walking at each destination. There are ATMs everywhere, post office down the street, magazine stands to buy bus tickets. Restaurants everywhere. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
