1bed/1bath apartment in Cannaregio, Venice
WhenOctober 4 - Nov 4, 2011, One month LocationThis apartment was right in the heart of Venice. It is on a canal and directly across from the Ospedale and SS Giovanni e Paolo. We loved the area and really liked being in this location. Nearby AmenitiesReally good restaurants were within a five minute walk. There are bars, bakeries, and gelato less than 30 seconds away. Groceries are within 5-10 minutes. The vaporetti stops are within 5-10 minutes. Alilaguna is five minutes away and a water taxi can stop right in front of the building. The House/ApartmentThe building is historical and the apartment was in great shape. The apartment is on a busy street so with the windows open there is people noise. With the windows closed, the noise is greatly decreased and with the shutters also closed the noise is down to a minimum. There is no noise after 11pm. There are two other apartments. GardenThere is a wonderful, private terrace from which to watch Venetian life go by. There is no pool. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasThe furniture is in very good shape and is very comfortable. The apartment was immaculate. There is a good sized couch and the dining room table seats six. Bedrooms/BathroomsThe bed was very comfortable as were the pillows. There is a huge amount of closet space. The bathroom was very nice with lots of hot water. KitchenThe kitchen was very usable and is very well equipped. There were plenty of dishes, pots and pans and a dishwasher. There is no microwave. We really enjoyed being able to cook full meals in the kitchen. Problems or BonusesWe loved the apartment and there were no surprises. The owner Sabrina has a large book full of instruction booklets for all the appliances. She and her husband were always there if we needed something. Agency and Representatives (and price)The agency is merely a listing agency so we didn't have contact with them. Sabrina was wonderful from our first contact to our last. She speaks very good English and we had no trouble communicating. Because we stayed an entire month we did get a discount off the listed price. Our damage deposit was returned immediately after we left and the apartment had been checked. We also were able to pay with PayPal because of our longer stay. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others? We would stay here again in a second and hope to do so in a year or two. We would recommend it with no qualifications except to say that it is really a two person apartment and might be crowded with more. Things to do in this areaEverything was close. Rosa Salva was across the way, there were restaurants very close, there were bars, bakeries, etc. and many, many shops right next to us.
