4bed/3bath house in Todi, Umbria WhenOctober 2011, 7 nights LocationThis house is located within the walls of Todi on a quiet street just a short walk to the piazza. Nearby AmenitiesWe could walk throughout Todi for coffee, groceries and restaurants. A larger grocery store was just a short drive down the hill. The House/ApartmentThe house was built in the 13th century and has many older features such as wooden beams, stonework and white walls, and yet with modern amenities. Although there were many other homes on the street, the house was very quiet. The house has four floors, the main floor was the living room, downstairs included the dining room, kitchen, a half bath and access to the garden, up one flight of stairs there were three bedrooms (master, two single beds, one single bed) and two bathrooms, as well as a balcony, and up another set of stairs was a loft area with two single beds. GardenThe garden was lovely and private with beautiful views of the Umbrian hills. There was an outdoor dining table and additional seating. The upstairs balcony also provided a lovely spot for viewing. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasThe entire house was wonderful with comfortable furniture. The living room had very comfortable sofa and chairs for reading and lounging, and the dining room had a large table. The house was clean and tidy throughout. Bedrooms/BathroomsThe bedrooms were a lovely refuge. We were three women friends traveling and this was the only rental where we each had our own room. There was something unique about each room - the master was the largest, the loft had that extra bit of privacy and quaint feeling, and the single bedroom had the second bath and private balcony. We had fun choosing which rooms we wanted - and no fights at all! All of the beds were comfortable and there were extra bath linens. KitchenThe kitchen was well equipped and we cooked at the house several times. We really enjoyed the spacious kitchen/dining room combination and the easy access to the garden. Problems or BonusesIt was just as beautiful as it looked on the website and we didn't want to leave! The owner has arranged for free parking with the church that is nearby. Agency and Representatives (and price)The owner, George, is very helpful, quick to respond to emails and spoke very good English. The price was $1800 US for the week, with a $500 refundable deposit (less $100 cleaning and exact amount for utilities). Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?Absolutely! It is a beautiful home with spacious common rooms and good variety of sleeping arrangements. Things to do in this areaWe really enjoyed dinner at Antica Osteria de la Valle, and went there twice. We also had a great day of wine tasting with Gusto Wine Tours. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
