2bed/2bath apartment in Cannaregio, Venice WhenOctober 2011, 4 nights LocationFantastic location less than 5 minutes to the Ca' D'Oro vaporetto stop and 2 minutes to Strada Nuova. Located on a residential calle that was mostly quiet, except for daily activities of our neighbours. Nearby AmenitiesThe Billa supermarket was just a few minutes away on Strada Nuova, as were many restaurants and coffee shops. The House/ApartmentThis is a three story private house. The ground floor was primarily the entrance with space for laundry racks. On the next floor there was the living room/dining area, kitchen and one of the bathrooms. The top floor had two bedrooms (separated by a short set of stairs) and the second bathroom. It was a bit dark as there is a fair bit of wood and not a lot of light from the windows. One bedroom only had an overhead window. GardenNo outside area. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasEverything was in reasonable shape and it was clean. The lack of light just made everything feel a bit dreary. With the sofa, two wicker chairs and the dining table for four people in the one room, it was easy to have comfortable conversations or go over maps and plans for the day. Bedrooms/BathroomsThe beds were comfortable and the bathrooms were spacious. As three women friends traveling together, we used the two bedrooms and the sofabed in the living room. We appreciated having our own space to relax after busy days. KitchenThe kitchen was well equipped, but we only used it for breakfast each day. It is a narrow space so it would be difficult to have more than one person in there at a time. Problems or BonusesThe location was great, and as it was our first trip to Venice we didn't realize how convenient it would be until we arrived. With the vaporetto stop and Strada Nuova so close, it was easy to get to where we wanted to go, and still feel like we were living in a residential part of Venice. Agency and Representatives (and price)Emails were returned promptly. The agency representative met us near the vaporetto stop (after patiently waiting for us as we dealt with cell phone issues at the airport) and also spent time giving us suggestions for restaurants. The price was €640 euro for four nights in October, no additional charges. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?Yes. It's not the loveliest place we stayed in, but it had the space we needed - bedrooms, bathrooms - and at a good rate for us. Also, the location is extremely convenient and we appreciated having access to a washing machine. Things to do in this areaWe went to three restaurants that were within a two minute walk and we would return to any of them. La Cantina is fabulous for a glass of wine or spritz (and crostini or a platter) and great people watching. We went once for drinks and once for supper. Alla Vedova and Osteria Ai Osti were just around the corner in opposite directions and we enjoyed the antipasti and pasta at both restaurants. We had delicious pizza a little further down Strada Nuova at Ristorante Pizzeria Da Giorgio. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
