1bed/1bath apartment on Campo dei Fiori, Rome WhenApril 2012, 6 nights LocationDirectly on Campo dei Fiori, on the third floor (second floor in Italy), 38 steps to the apartment. This was our third stay in this building (second in this apartment) and we love overlooking the Campo with all its activity. But when you close the shutters - silence! Nearby AmenitiesWe could walk mere feet from the building to reach anything we needed. The Punto Supermarket is five minutes away. The House/ApartmentVery old building in very good shape. The Campo is very noisy most of the time but our shutters kept it quiet. There is one private bedroom and an additional sitting room which can accommodate two single beds. The living room which overlooks the Campo has a large sofa as well. There are about 8-10 apartments in the building. GardenNo garden or pool. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasEverything was in good shape and comfortable. It was very clean and there were plenty of places to sit. Bedrooms/BathroomsI thought our bed was a little hard but my husband was fine with it. It was a very nice bedroom and the sitting room is perfectly adequate for two more people. KitchenPlenty of pots and pans although we really didn't do any cooking. There is an American style coffee maker as well as an Italian one. Problems or BonusesAs this was our second time in the apartment, everything was as we expected. Agency and Representatives (and price)We booked on VRBO. The owner actually lives outside of Rome, and Fiora, who owns the penthouse apartment in this building, handles the rentals for the owner. The person who meets us speaks perfect English and is very helpful. They also offer car service from the airport which is a very reasonable €50. We have paid €120 per night each time we've stayed there. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?I will definitely stay here the next time we're in Rome, and every time after that! It is a great value in a great area! If you need more space, consider Fiora's penthouse apartment, vrbo #215521. That's a 76 step walk up though! Things to do in this areaYou are on Campo dei Fiori and Piazza Navona is five to 10 minute walk at most. The Vatican is a 20 minute walk. Everything you need is at your front step. We always enjoy Hostaria Farnese (50 yards away) for meals and the numerous bars, which line the Campo. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
