Review 5288: Summer in Italy, Casa Georgina B

Review by Steve Glass from OR

1bed/1bath apartment in Praiano, Campania

May 2012, 2 weeks

The location was in Praiano, a small town half way between Amalfi and Positano. The magnificent villa was located about 100 yards below the highway with easy access to the shops and restaurants. There was a full sea view from every room and beautiful gardens. Being below the main road we never had any traffic noise and had absolute privacy.

The local buses and the SITA buses gave us easy access to Positano and Amalfi, both of which were very nice places to visit. The joy of being in quiet Praiano can't be overstated. We shopped for meat, fish and vegetables in the lovely local stores and walked home in five minutes. Every day we made breakfast and either lunch or dinner. The luxury of only having to eat one meal a day in a restaurant was incomparable! Il Pino, a 10 minute walk, was by far the best restaurant of the many we visited on the Amalfi Coast.

Nearby Amenities

All the shops and restaurants were on the main highway and five to 10 minutes walk. The bus transportation was easy and having a car would have been a liability. By the end of the first week we were "locals" and recognized in the shops and restaurants. We met many of the employees in our daily walks through town and were always greeted warmly.

The House/Apartment

The house was a beautifully restored 400 year old stone building. The rooms were barrel vaults plastered inside and out with 18 foot ceilings. Sea views from every room including the bath. The rooms were all very large with a huge stone terrace and three levels of gardens descending towards the sea. No traffic noise and we never saw or heard anyone. We can't imagine a more perfect place to stay on the Amalfi Coast.

You can view the property directly: Casa Giorgina B.

Over 2000 square feet of private gardens. Beautiful palms, lemon trees and cactus. Totaly private and manicured. Outside shower with hot water!

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

Lovely furniture with dining accommodations for six or more. Only the hard Italian beds took a little getting used to.

Bedroom was huge and the bath was luxurious with two sea view windows.

Loved cooking and eating in the kitchen. We made breakfast and lunch or dinner every day.

Problems or Bonuses

The villa was far more beautiful than the photos on the web site!

Agency and Representatives (and price)

Summer in Italy was great. Every aspect of their service was professional and excellent.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

Can't recommend Casa Georgina B enough. If you go with anothe couple take the upper unit A also.

Things to do in this area

Explored Positano, Amalfi, Ravello and Pompeii and Herculaneum.
