apartments on an estate outside Montepulciano, Tuscany South WhenAugust 2010, 1 week LocationYou can find La Bruciata at five minutes distance by car from Montepulciano and a few hundred meters from the main road and even nearby a hiking trail from Monticchiello to Montepulciano. I recommend to make this walk with beautiful views from the agriturismo to Monticchiello, a nice medieval village, and also the walk in the other direction to Montepulciano with its church San Biagio, the old medieval center, several shops and restaurants. The accommodation is in a private and very calm location at the outskirts of the city. The property is surrounded by a large vegetable garden, a flower garden, vineyards and olive grove. From the property you have a splendid view on Montepulciano and the environment. The accommodation is very well situated to visit several medieval cities as Pienza, Montalcino, Siena , Cortona, Arezzo, Perugia, La Foce and the Lake Trasimeno. Anyway to discover Tuscany, you need a car. Nearby AmenitiesAt five minutes distance by car you find the nearest grocery stores and restaurants. Maybe it's nearer by but we didn;t ask because we didn't need it. There is also a weekly market at Montepulciano on Thursday and Saturday. At Pienza there is a weekly market on Friday. There are many good restaurants in Montepulciano but our favorite restaurant is La Porta in Monticchiello. The House/ApartmentThere are four apartments. All of them are very spacious with a hydro-massage shower, air-conditioning and satellite TV. Each apartment has also a well equipped kitchen area and a living room with satellite TV. From each apartment you have a splendid view from the balcony. GardenThe apartments are surrounded by a large vegetable garden, a flower garden, vineyards and olive grove. There is a swimming pool with sun loungers. There are even several private sitting corners. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasThe apartments have furniture in good shape, even in typical Tuscan style. There are enough chairs and seats for relax sitting for everyone who stays at the apartments. The apartment was very clean. Bedrooms/BathroomsAll the bedrooms have antique double beds and wardrobes in the typical tuscan style. The beds are very comfortable. Every bathroom is very clean and has a hydro-massage shower. There are bath towels and a hairdryer. KitchenThe kitchen is well equipped. There is an refrigerator. There are kitchen towels. It is a usable kitchen but I didn't use it because we preferred to go out dining to enjoy the Tuscan dishes at restaurant or at La Bruciata. Problems or BonusesThe breakfasts are various and abundant every morning, prepared with fresh products from the garden and pasta, bread, cakes and several jams, all handmade. We did stay several times for dinner at La Bruciata because the quality and the value for money are of a high level certainly comparable with a good restaurant. Agency and Representatives (and price)We booked via the website. We booked our holiday here because we did read the reviews of other clients. And indeed, we were very satisfied and we still remember the kindness and helpfulness of the hosts. Laura speaks very good English and all the information she gave us was accurate. So this year in September we are going back and this time my mother is going to accompany us. She is looking forward to discover South Tuscany and the nice environment of La Bruciata. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others? We recommend this agriturismo to everyone who likes to stay at a calm place with a beautiful view and to enjoy each day a delicious breakfast and even a welcoming dinner on arrival at La Bruciata. Families with little children can stay at the pool and can prepare their own lunch and dinner at the apartment. The only negative point for us was and will be again in September to leave this little paradise on earth at the end of our holiday. Things to do in this areaWe visited the medieval cities and made long walks with splendid views. At the end of the day a dive in the swimming pool chased away the tiredness, followed by a tasty dinner . Our favourite restaurant is La Porta at the access to Monticchiello. Daria and her daughters are very kind and helpful. We went already two times for dinner and each time we were very surprised by the typical and delicious Tuscan dishes. You have to book the dinner before because this restaurant has a very good reputation in the region. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
