2bed/2bath apartment in Cannaregio (#803695), Venice
WhenMay 8 - 12, 2012, 4 nights LocationAdjacent to Madonna del Orto church in the Cannaregio district of Venice the apartment was located on a very quiet fondamenta, a lovely retreat from the insanity of San Marco! Nearby AmenitiesIt was walking distance from several very nice restaurants with both indoor and canal-side seating. There were a couple of grocery stores nearby, but they were a little tricky to find - down small alleys and not much signage! The House/ApartmentThe apartment itself is on the ground floor of a three story building. It has a good sized living-dining room, small eating area in the well stocked kitchen, two nice bathrooms, and two very nice sized bedrooms (one with a double bed, the other with two twins). GardenThere is a lovely private garden off the living room. Both the kitchen window, and one window of the double bedroom look out on the garden. The church of Madonna del Orto overlooks the garden, and is quite spectacular at night. There is a table and chairs, as well as padded lounge chairs. We used the garden a few days, but the weather was not as cooperative as it might have been! Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasThis apartment was spotlessly clean, and very well appointed. There is a sofa in the living room, but most of the space is taken up by a large dining table and chairs - great for conversation over a glass of wine. Bedrooms/BathroomsThe bedrooms were very nice, bright with lots of windows. Beds were very comfortable, and there were extra pillows and blankets available. One bathroom has a bathtub with hand held shower head, and the other has a glass shower stall. I didn't use the shower but understand it was a little tricky to operate. The only complaint about the bathrooms is that it would be nice to have a couple of hooks to hang wet towels. The second bathroom also has the washing machine, which was very handy. KitchenWe didn't cook any full meals in the kitchen but it seemed to be quite well equipped. The coffee maker is the standard Italian stove-top espresso pot. We mostly ate breakfast in the apartment, and had lunch and dinner out. Agency and Representatives (and price)Dealing with the owner and the staff was very pleasant. Emails were answered promptly, and the onsite people we dealt with spoke very good English. We paid €920 for four nights in May, split between two couples, or about €115 per couple per night, which we felt for Venice was a very good price. This apartment was exactly as represented on the website. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?I would not think twice about recommending this apartment to others, and would certainly consider staying there again should I return to Venice.
