apartments in Ossaia (near Cortona), Tuscany East WhenMay 2011, 2 nights ReviewMy boyfriend and I spent two nights at Le More Summer House in May 2011. We had never been to this region in Tuscany and were looking for a place that would be convenient to Siena and Assisi and also to some of the hill towns. Le More is in a small village called Ossaia, about ten minutes by car from the very beautiful hill town, Cortona. Though we were afraid it might be out-of-the-way compared to places in Cortona or nearby Camucia (where the train stops), we were thrilled with our choice! The house was conveniently located and absolutely lovely. The house has plenty of space for two and I think it would also be great for two couples or a family. There's a full kitchen, two nicely decorated bedrooms with comfy beds, and a cute dining room. The bathroom worked great, and though there is no bath tub, the shower has good water pressure and ample hot water. There are also some pretty views of the valley and Cortona from the windows. It's very romantic. When we arrived, the place was clean and inviting. The owners had even left a few snacks out for us, so we felt right at home. All our dealings with the owners were great. Enzo speaks and writes English, so that made it easy to make arrangements. We even liked Ossaia, though it was a little hard to find the house (partially my fault -- I didn't get good enough directions before we left). There's a nice restaurant called La Tufa just a few doors down with reasonable prices and a patio with a lovely view of the valley and there's also a local general store type place with some basic groceries and supplies. Drawbacks: you do need a car to stay here and the driving in Tuscany is not exactly easy. Also, Ossaia is very small, so if you're looking for nightlife, this probably is not the place for you.
