1bed/1bath apartment near Vatican, Rome WhenJuly 2012, 1 week LocationThe Niccolo apartment is in a nice quiet residential area. It's a small apartment complex surrounded by larger apartments literally right across the street from the Vatican wall. Its very safe to walk through this area late at night and the locals always say hello. Only bad thing is a giant set of stairs that is the only way to get to the street by foot, which you will dread after a long day's walk. Nearby AmenitiesEverything is near by. There is a grocery store about two blocks away. And farmers market in the morning. Restaurants, cafes, pharmacies as well. It's right on the Vatican wall so the walk is about five minutes to plaza San Pietro. The House/ApartmentGood shape, very quiet. Only reason you would hear a neighbor is when someone opened the entrance door to the complex. GardenNo garden just a balcony. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasEverything was in perfect condition. Modern and antique furniture. Bedrooms/BathroomsClean air-conditioned. Comfortable beds. Just bathtub, no shower was a bit of a hassle to not wet the floor but nothing to complain about. Everything needed in bathroom was there. Towels, soap, shampoo, medicine, washing machine etc. KitchenFully equipped except for microwave. Problems or BonusesWalkable to every attraction except to Colosseum. Agency and Representatives (and price)Agency was very helpful. Website looks a little skeptical and cheap but it is completely legit and a great company. Even called me through the owners cell just to check up on us to see how we liked the place. Answered all of my questions even ones not dealing with apartment. Emailed me back within 24hrs at the most, usually within an hour. Booked pick up service with them. Everyone spoke English. The owner walked us to the grocery store and restaurants to show us around. He was very nice and spoke English. No surprises with anything. We paid about €600 for the week, low price for high season. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?I would definitely stay here again unless I found a cheaper one even more towards the center, which is impossible, so yes I would. Especially because it's in a very good location where everything is walkable except the Coliseum. Everything is closer than it appears on the map. Things to do in this areaThe ice cream shop down the street was very good as well as a restaurant a couple shops down from it.
