1bed/1bath apartment in Montisi, Tuscany South

May 2012, 4 nights

The apartment is on an estate on the edge of Montisi, a charming little speck of a Tuscan town. In terms of town or country it is the best of both worlds. In the back of the property you are in the country; out the front door is the main street of the town. It is directly across the street from the well known Da Roberto.

Montisi is ideally situated for making day trips to Montalcino, Pienza, San Quirico, The Abbey at Monte Oliveto Maggiore and more.

Nearby Amenities

You can walk for anything, easily. There is a small grocery store in town, about two blocks away. Coffee and pizza -- one more block.

The House/Apartment

The building is very historical. We got a tour of the rooms where Duke of Tuscany once stayed and they have remained untouched, like a museum. The apartments are obviously fairly new construction with the old beams and floors intact. There are four total apartments in the building. It is extremely peaceful and quiet.

We chose the I Gerani apartment because it offered air conditioning which we didn't use.

The garden is absolutely lovely, with many potted lemon trees, a cherry tree (pick all you want) and herbs. Although it was too cool for us to use the pool we did look at it and it is very pretty and private with nice furniture.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

Very clean and comfortable all around.

Bed was very comfortable. Bathroom is big, shower is typical but worked great with plenty of hot water.

I didn't really cook in the kitchen but it seemed fine. Plenty of equipment for meals.

Problems or Bonuses

Biggest surprise was the beauty of the garden and the peacefulness. The place just sings of the Val d'Chiana/ Val d'Orcia area.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

We booked with the owner who wasn't there. Her father, who speaks very little English, was a charming easy going host.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

This is a really nice spot! There was no WiFi but the DSL cable connection was fast enough and sitting at the dining room table was comfortable. It seems they are working on the WiFi issue.

Things to do in this area

We made day trip each day. If you love driving through Tuscany, checking out the poppy fields and olive groves you will love the location.
