Review 5387: Angeli's House, Penthouse A
2bed/2bath apartment in Trastevere, Rome
24-30th July 2012, 7 days
Located in Trastevere, narrow lane, a quiet area with restaurants nearby, church opposite was enchanting.
Within walking distance of restaurants, cafes, large supermarket and fruit shop.
The building was old, the apartment was delightful, immaculately presented on the third floor. There were other apartments in the building but this was not an issue. Double glazed, air conditioned.
Roof terrace was lovely, plenty of room for a barbecue, and a large dining table and sun loungers. Pretty flowers around and a lovely view of the Trastevere rooftops. This space was great at all times of the day. We ate breakfast and supper, as well as occasionally sunbathing.
There was an adjacent roof terrace but there was sufficient privacy provided.
All furniture, and soft furnishings, were excellent. Recently refurbished to a high standard.
Beds comfortable, cotton lined, both rooms had a bathroom, one had bath with shower the other had shower only. Excellent specification.
Kitchen was usable, cooked full meals for four regularly, a bit stuck for space for serving but plenty of good equipment, excellent cooker/grill/oven.
Problems or Bonuses
The exterior that greeted us gave little clue as to the quality and comfort within. As our party consisted of two teenage girls and my friend and myself I was very pleasantly surprised at the space.
Agency and Representatives (and price)
Agency was very helpful and efficient. Onsite person was great, she spoke English well and was very helpful when air conditioning developed a little problem, she also sent recommendations for local restaurants and shops. The apartment was better that we had thought it would be. We paid €1,492 for July 24 - July 31.
Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?
We would definitely stay here again, indeed we hope to. I would say that the only qualifications are the stairs (it's on the third floor). And the apartment has three floors too.
Things to do in this area
We walked to the Tiber Island, colorful market every night. Walked through the lanes got a takeaway (chocolate calzone) pizza from Dar Poeta vicolo del bologna 45 (very popular, excellent pizza, but very, very busy). Visited many of the sights, Colosseum, Spanish Steps,Villa Farnesia was lovely, cool on a hot day and we found the little gem Da Gildo Via della Scala 31 on our way home. Fab! so we returned for an evening meal. Caught the Metro, caught the bus on days when we were wanted to venture further. This was easily done and cheap too. Visited S. Maria in Trastevere. Ate cornetto, and drank espresso standing with Italians on their way to work. Easy walking distance to major attractions but pack comfy shoes!
