1bed/1bath apartment in Dorsoduro, Venice

When

September 2012, 6 nights

Location

The apartment is on Fondamenta Bragadin in the Dorsoduro. There is one bridge to cross from either the Zattere or Accademia vaporetto stops.

Nearby Amenities

The Billa grocery store is a bit of a walk or one vaporetto stop down the Zattere. There are several restaurants and bars near by.

The House/Apartment

The apartment is in a private residence where the owner's family lives. There are two apartment rentals, both available through Venice Rent Apartments. Everything in the apartment was in good shape and the web site pictures give an accurate representation. The only thing that may not be obvious from the pictures is that there is a wall between the living/kitchen area and bedroom which is mostly a large sheet of glass, not a mirror. The reflections in the pictures made that difficult to determine. We were pleasantly surprised that it was quiet at night despite having the living room windows face the street/canal.

Garden

There is a garden area in the back but we did not use it.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

The apartment was clean and comfortable. The area around the dining room table was a bit tight. There were two air conditioning units so it was easy to keep it very cool.

Bedrooms/Bathrooms

The bed was very firm and pillows a bit thin. The bathroom was narrow but functional. The shower had a good shower head and plenty of hot water.

Kitchen

We didn't cook but the kitchen appeared to be well equipped.

Problems or Bonuses

We had stayed in the other apartment a year and a half before and we prefer this one. The owner is very nice and speaks very good English. We really like the area as it is easy to arrive and leave with luggage, convenient to multiple vaporetto stops and quiet at night. The only complaint would be the firmness of the bed and thin pillows. Even with this, it would probably be our first choice. The total cost for six nights was 830.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

We have rented multiple times through Venice Rent Apartments and have been happy with each experience.
