Studio apartment on Piazza Signoria, Florence

When

September/October 2012, 10 nights

Location

The apartment is right on Piazza Signoria. It was clean and much to our surprise quiet. The reason for nor recommending this apartment is because during our 10 night stay we had issues with hot water in the shower on three occasions. If not for that I would have given it a neutral.

Nearby Amenities

It is in the center of historic Florence with everything you would want near by. There is a Meta supermarket a couple of blocks away and a new Conad market which is larger just on the other side of the Ponte Vecchio.

The House/Apartment

We were very surprised how quiet the apartment was given that the entrance is right on Piazza Signoria. The apartments are in a building behind this that are separated by a small inner courtyard. The only noise we heard was church bells on the hour (even through the night). There are other apartments in the building which can be reserved directly through Palazzo Uguccioni. The manager was able to show us all of them during our stay and they are larger and nicer than the Atmosfera - definite possibilities for another trip. There is a single shared washing machine for all apartments. There is a self service laundry fairly close by as well.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

It is a studio with bed, two arm chairs, a small table with two chairs and kitchenette corner. Everything was in good shape. The pictures on the web site are accurate. The air conditioning worked well and there was a fan in the room as well. The WiFi also worked well.

Bedrooms/Bathrooms

The bed was comfortable and there were four nice pillows. The bathroom was very small. The ceiling in the shower was incredibly low. I'm 5' 8" and I don't think someone more than two or three inches taller than me would have an easy time. The floor of it also had wall tiles which were slippery as you had to step down a bit to the bathroom floor. The shower itself for me would make it a neutral review. I had seem some previous reviews of hot water issues and we experienced this as well. The first time I had hot water for my shower but my husband who went in after me did not. Two other times the water was warmish, not hot, for both of us. We mentioned this to the manager who seemed upset as she had called in a plumber when previous guests had complained and she thought it had been fixed. She thanked us for letting her know and did call the plumber again - we had the two warmish showers after this (along with other days that were fine).

Kitchen

We didn't cook but it appeared that everything necessary for preparing some basic meals was there.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

We booked through Windows on Italy who we have used many times before. They are a very good agency. The apartment can also be booked directly for a bit less. The manager was very nice and helpful.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

The other apartments in the building looked nice. I don't think we would stay in the Atmosfera again even if the hot water issues were resolved since it wasn't quite big enough for the amount of time we normally stay (a week or more).
