apartments in Montepulciano, Tuscany South WhenSeptember 2012, 6 nights ReviewMy parents and I arrived in Montepulciano from Chiusi where we picked up a hire car. Although I had been to Montepulciano before, I knew the town was a maze of narrow winding streets. Fortunately, the owner Giacomo provided excellent driving directions and the apartment was easily located and parking quickly found. We stayed at Politian Apartments for six nights in the two-bedroom apartment located on the top floor. Each bedroom looked out over the Tuscan hills and was beautifully decorated. Both beds were extremely comfortable, the bedding was crisp and white and of excellent quality. The furnishings in the bedroom and throughout the apartments were wooden, quite old and very well crafted. Each bedroom had a dresser with a mirror and either a desk or table with seating. The bathroom was spacious and spotlessly clean with plenty of towels and toilet paper provided. The window in the bathroom allowed ample light in and could be opened to let out steam if required. In the small entry foyer, tucked beside an antique wardrobe was a small washing machine. The kitchen, dining and living room were open plan with terracotta floors and large shuttered windows that could be opened to let in the breeze. It was very light and airy and pleasant to sit in at all hours of the day. The dining table was a great place to sit and do trip planning and the lounge was comfortable although seldom used due to being out all day sightseeing. Giacomo was a pleasure to deal with, very well traveled but also extremely knowledgeable on the local area. His suggestions on places to visit and in particular where to eat were faultless – every place that we dined was a fabulous experience and all of the towns visited were amazing. I would not hesitate to recommend these apartments to anyone wanting to really experience a true Tuscan town with a gracious and generous host in a beautifully restored family home.
