6bed/6bath house near Staggia Senese, Tuscany Chianti When2012, one week LocationOur villa was just 2km from the nearest town, but high on a hill, so it felt like we were in the country. Indeed, the neighbors had free range chickens! it felt very private, with beautiful grounds and outdoor spaces. Nearby AmenitiesIt was technically possible to walk into town for coffee or groceries, but as a practical matter not really. The main road was narrow with a fair amount of traffic; the road up to the villa was quite steep and not paved. The House/ApartmentThe villa was in wonderful shape, very peaceful and quiet. All of the bedrooms were quite private, there were several "public" spaces for relaxing both indoors and out. The ground floor had a spacious vestibule, two adjoining parlors, a large dining room, a well-equipped kitchen, laundry room and two baths. The first floor included six bedrooms, five with private bath, and two sitting areas. GardenOutdoor spaces included a patio, a loggia, a sitting area in the woods, and a lovely pool. The entire yard was enclosed, and there was ample parking as well. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasFurniture was newish and comfortable. The house was spotless and very well maintained. The dining room seated 14 and there was also a high chair. Bedrooms/BathroomsBedrooms were spacious with ample storage and often a sitting area. Beds were comfortable. Plenty of bathrooms, well appointed and comfortable. KitchenKitchen was small, given the size of the house, but well equipped. In a group of cooks, it would have been nice to have had more counter space. Problems or BonusesThe resident caretaker and his girlfriend were a delight! It would have been nice to have fresh towels mid-week, and as Americans, we were surprised that we were responsible for trash removal. Agency and Representatives (and price)The agency was responsive and responsible. The caretaker was wonderful, and spoke good English. The reality of the villa matched the published photographs and exceeded our expectations. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others? We loved, loved, loved our stay and would return tomorrow! Things to do in this areaThe villa was well located for day trips in Chianti and northern Tuscany. We did not eat out locally -- tended to eat lunch while out during the day, and bring in charcuterie, cheese, bread and wine for our evening meal.
