Review 5465: Owner, La Suite B&B

Review by Jean from WI

2bed/1bath apartment in Ascoli Piceno, Marche

October 2012, 4 nights

The apartment is located in a quiet street close to the center of Ascoli Piceno. It's in a building where there are a dozen or so apartments, and this apartment is on the third floor. The building is in a primarily residential area.

Nearby Amenities

We could walk anywhere in Ascoli Piceno. There were shops, restaurant, and bars - everything you need is within easy walking distance.

The House/Apartment

The building is historical and in relatively good shape. I had read other reviewers who wrote they thought the door to the building looked to be in disrepair, but to us, it was just old.

The apartment is on two floors. The main room (couch, kitchen table and chairs), a bedroom with two twin beds pushed together, and a bathroom are all on the first floor. There is a staircase leading up to a room with twin beds.

There was no outside sitting area.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

The furniture was in good shape and comfortable. Everything was clean, and even though we were only there four nights, someone came and cleaned the apartment after two nights.

The beds were comfortable and the linens appeared to be professionally laundered.

I do want to mention the location of the second bedroom. It is located up a winding, metal staircase which could be difficult for some people to navigate. Also, once you get up to the second bedroom, the ceiling is pretty low, so you do need to be careful that you don't hit your head. It's comfortable once you're up there, but I did want to note that you need to be prepared for the stairs.

The kitchen was great for cooking. We didn't cook big meals, but we did have several lunches in the apartment.

Problems or Bonuses

This apartment is called a B&B, but it is not what I could consider to be a traditional bed and breakfast place. There is food there for breakfasts (juice, milk, coffee, rolls, a tart, and cereal), but it is not the kind of B&B where someone fixes you breakfast each morning. We were fine with this and having the food there was a bonus for us.

Note: There is no WiFi or washing machine in this apartment.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

We communicated with the owner via email during the booking process, and he was very responsive to our questions. When we arrived, we were instructed to call a number, and when we did, we spoke with a woman who met us at the apartment. She spoke some English so we were able to communicate, and she was extremely helpful.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

We would stay there again and we would recommend La Suite to others who are visiting Ascoli Piceno. I know there are several nice hotels in town, but we feel this apartment gives you a bit more space than what you might find in a hotel room.

Things to do in this area

Our favorite restaurant was Il Piccolo Teatro. We went there twice, and I'm still dreaming about the chestnut risotto.

We also loved Gelateria Emiliani. The owner there is delightful, and his gelato is the best in town!
