3bed/2bath apartment in San Marco, Venice WhenThanksgiving 2011, 3 nights LocationThis apartment was located in San Marco - very close to St. Mark's Square. It was on the fourth and fifth (Italian) floors of a fairly large apartment building. Nearby AmenitiesIt was extremely centrally located! The grocery store was a 10 minute walk, but there were many restaurants and shopping within a block or two. The House/ApartmentThe apartment was terrific. You entered on the fourth floor and there was a small sitting area (great for collecting coats and 'gear'), the three bedrooms, and the two bathrooms. Up a small flight of stairs was the sitting room (spacious), kitchen, dining table, and laundry room. You can view the property directly: Piazza San Marco. GardenThere was a nice terrace outside. We didn't use it much since it was cold, but it was nice to be able to check the weather and look at the stars. It would be a wonderful place to sit during warmer months. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasThe furniture was in excellent shape and very comfortable. The apartment was very clean and well-appointed. Bedrooms/BathroomsIt was nice having three bedrooms and two full baths. We felt like we had room to spread out and the extra bathroom was always appreciated with five people. KitchenThe kitchen was on the smaller side, but well-laid out and appointed. We liked the fact that it was open to the dining area and not a separate galley style kitchen. Problems or BonusesThis was an amazing location and we loved being able to walk to San Marco Square at night and early morning when it was empty. There was also a large collection of books (mostly in Italian, but we donated a few to the cause). Agency and Representatives (and price)The agency was great - once it was booked, we dealt with the owner. He arranged to meet us at the apartment and came back to check us out. He was kind enough to help us get a water taxi and our luggage to the taxi pickup. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?I would absolutely stay here again and would recommend it unconditionally to anyone. The only downside is climbing the stairs, but it justifies that extra scoop of gelato. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
