apartments on an estate near Montepulciano, Tuscany South WhenOctober 2012, 1 week LocationTo us, Le Manzinaie is the most wonderful place to stay in Italy. We look forward to every visit. It is so conveniently located in southern Tuscany for day trips to the hill towns of Montepulciano, Valiano, Cortona, Pienza, Montalcino, just to name a few. You can be in Siena in 45 minutes and just another 1/2 hour or so to Florence. Nearby AmenitiesYou really should have a car but it is a short drive to the little village of Aquaviva for groceries or coffee or a gelato. There is also a great COOP grocery store in Montepulciano. And another grocery store near the American style mall about 10 minutes away. The House/ApartmentThe building is an old estate that has been lovingly restored by its marvelous owners, Marzia and Fiore Grassi. We have stayed in several apartments over the years. There are two separate villas, a two bedroom and a three bedroom. Each one has bedrooms upstairs as well as one of the bedrooms downstairs. The apartments in the main house are all on one floor. I believe there are six rentals in all. GardenThere is a wonderful outside sitting area. The villas each have their own area. Plus there is a beautiful pool with chaise lounges. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasThe apartments are spotless and comfortable. There are plenty of chairs for everyone, couches and a TV. Bedrooms/BathroomsThe beds are very comfortable. The bedrooms have plenty of room for clothes and storage and most importantly, there are screens on the windows! The bathrooms are modern and well supplied with towels and wonderful showers and tubs. KitchenYou can cook a full meal in the kitchens if you so desire. There are plenty of pots, pans ,dishes, and drinking glasses. Also included are coffee pots, toasters and silverware. There is nothing that the owners have not thought to provide. Problems or BonusesWhen you arrive, the owners will greet you like family (which we feel we have become having stayed there so often!) Fiore will be quick to offer you a drink of coffee, cappuccino, wine or beer. You immediately feel welcome and at home. The kitchen is stocked with the essentials and the supplies for a breakfast, so that you will not feel the need to rush out to a grocery but can relax and enjoy the wonderful estate. Agency and Representatives (and price)Alice, the owner's daughter, is fluent in four languages and is now studying Chinese. There is no problem with communication and you will know that the published information is 100% correct. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others? We will stay there again and have now stayed there something like six times. We have taken our best friends here twice and they love it like we do. Things to do in this areaOur favorite thing to do is to get in the car each morning and go to several hill towns each day. We make sure to go to Siena on Wednesday for the big market there and to Montepulciano for their market day. Our favorite restaurant is L'Angolo in Aquaviva! I almost don't want to tell anyone about it so that we can always get a table when we go there! We will eat there at least three nights in the week we are there.
