Review 5505: Agriturismo La Bruciata, Apartment

Review by Gloria from Georgia from US

apartments on an estate outside Montepulciano, Tuscany South

October 2012, 7 days

My husband and I spent a marvelous week at La Bruciata Agriturismo near Montepulciano -- the highlight of our three weeks in Italy. We drove direct from Rome and the location was just what we were looking for -- out in the country in the middle of vineyards and olive groves with a magnificent view of the Tuscan hillsides and yet less than 15 minutes from Montepulciano.

The apartment was very spacious with a comfortable bed, and a fully equipped kitchen which we didn't use much due to the excellent five course meals cooked by Laura and her mother, Marisa, using fruit and vegetables from their gardens. (Next time, I will definitely plan a cooking lesson given by Marisa.) The breakfasts were always a delight with homemade cakes, and jams and her wonderful cappuccino. On the occasions when we chose to eat elsewhere, Laura recommended restaurants in the surrounding towns which we found to be great choices. Laura also recommended driving routes and sites that were off the tourist routes and which we would have missed otherwise.

The grounds were well kept and included beautiful roses, pomegranate trees, and flowering shrubs. The swimming pool was beautiful and vine-covered arbors beckoned to sit and enjoy the wonderful scenery.

The views of Montepulciano and San Biagio Church on the short drive to Montepulciano were breathtaking and varied during different times of day. We made many comfortable day trips west to Siena, Montalcino, and San Gimignano, east to Cortona and even as far north as the national park above Arezzo.

We were treated like family at La Bruciata, and consider it to be a trip highlight to spend time with Laura and her family, learn about local customs and foods, enjoy the company of other travelers and just simply relax! It is most definitely a place to recommend to others and return as often as possible.
