1bed/1bath apartment near Ponte Cavour, Rome
WhenJanuary 2013, 10 days LocationFantastic location by Ponte Cavour on Lungovetere Marzio with a stunning view of the Tiber. Note that because of the trees along the banks the view would be more restricted when the leaves are out, however from the main terrace there is a year round view of the river. Piazza Navona is five minutes away as is Via del Corso ... very convenient location. Nearby AmenitiesLots of little shops behind on Via Ripetta and a SPAR about 10 minutes away off Via del Corso. Restaurants everywhere! The House/ApartmentThe building is newer (20s?) and has an elevator. It was quiet in so far as other neighbors (in fact we only ever saw one other person). We didn't find the Lungotevere traffic noisy, but in January we didn't have the windows open. The apartment is a large one bedroom with a wall of french doors overlooking the Tiber. Ceilings are 11 foot. Note regarding the layout - the bedroom wall does not go to the (11 foot) ceiling and there isn't a door separating it from the living room so technically it might be considered a studio? You can view the property directly: Miguel. GardenThere are two terraces - the main one off the living room has a table and two chairs and a lovely view of the Tiber. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasApartment was very clean. Furniture was comfortable - not fancy but fine. Seating was good. There are two large couches in the living room (that are billed as single beds - maybe for kids) and a small dining room table and two chairs. The gleaming herring bone hardware floors throughout are beautiful. Bedrooms/BathroomsThe bedroom has a very comfortable queen size bed and good reading lights. The bathroom was a bit cramped but clean and functional. KitchenThe kitchen was the weakest point - although fine for the majority of travelers. The cupboards and appointments are very basic but clean. There is a four-burner hob and a convection oven (which is very difficult to access as it's so close to the floor - but it does work). Selection of glasses and dishes is fine but the cooking utensils are a mishmash of a few pots/pan and very few cooking implements. We like to cook but if you're just making breakfast and/or reheating food the kitchen is fine. We managed to make a few pastas and it was fine, but as I said the kitchen isn't the highlight of the apartment. Problems or BonusesThe apartment was bigger than I thought (both floor space and ceiling height). Agency and Representatives (and price)The agency was for the most part extremely helpful, but a little inconsistent. My advice would be to just be very clear with them and communicate regularly. They arranged our airport pickup which was helpful since we arrived at 7am. It was more expensive than a cab but a good way to arrive. They also kindly arranged access at 8am. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?Definitely recommend! This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
