Review 5608: Lucca Holiday Homes, Brunella

Review by The Qs from US

2bed/1.5bath apartment in Lucca, Tuscany North

8/2/2013 - 8/9/2013, 1 week

Great apartment in great location within the walled city of Lucca! Located half a block from the wall in the east side of Lucca on a nice quiet street.

Nearby Amenities

Quiet street, with great restaurants a block away, shops and grocery store within 5-10 minute walk, and train station an easy 20 minute walk.

The House/Apartment

Well maintained apartment that was recently renovated. Very quiet building, approximately six other apartments in the building, but it felt like we had the entire building to ourselves.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

Apartment was very clean with nice furnishings, and all amenities, including full kitchen, clothes washer and air conditioning (which came in very handy as it was 90degree F every day during our visit).

Good size bedrooms with very comfortable beds and plenty of drawer and closet space. Main bath, good-size shower and good amount of counter space. Master half bath was smaller, but having a master bath was very convenient. Fixtures were all very new and in excellent working condition.

Galley kitchen was very nice with new appliances (including a dishwasher!). Plenty of pots, pans and dishes.

Problems or Bonuses

Dishwasher was a pleasant surprise. Interesting plumbing system where radiator in second bedroom heated up when running the shower. Not a problem, just for your information.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

Deborah, the owner of the agency- Lucca Holiday Homes, was fantastic. We asked many questions leading up to our trip and Deborah was always prompt, professional and pleasant in her responses! Deborah also arranged a driver to pick us up and return us to the Florence Airport, which worked out tremendously.

Deborah met us at the apartment when we arrived and took the time to go over the amenities of the apartment-including the location of the fuse box was (behind a painting). Deborah also put together a 'tour book' for us. As a native of Lucca the information and recommendations she provided were great and helped us feel 'at home'.

Deborah spoke English very well. Deborah exceeded our expectations, attending to every detail, including checking in with us during our stay to ensure that everything was going well. If you are considering renting an apartment in Lucca, I would highly recommend Deborah/Lucca Holiday Homes. She is very professional, knowledgeable and helpful.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

I would stay in this apartment again and would recommend it to a friend. One qualification would be that there are a number of steps (20-30) between the street and the apartment entrance.

Things to do in this area

Very much enjoyed, and would recommend the Pecora Nera (Black Sheep) Restaurant. The restaurant's mission is to provide job placement and skills for disabled young people allowing them to realize their full potential. We had a wonderful meal and experience. Also, a half a block from the apartment there was a local market held on Wednesday and Saturday morning, which we also enjoyed.
