Review 5622: Angeli's House, Penthouse B

Review by Carmen Santiago from US

1bed/1bath apartment in Trastevere, Rome

August 2013, Two weeks

Perfect location for us. Walked everywhere. Quiet even in an active part of this section of Trastevere. Ate on our terrace most evenings and some mornings. Although in the middle of apartments, felt private. This was our second time. Only challenge is it's 75 stairs up and down. Would be a challenge if you take lots of heavy suitcases. However don't need to take as many clothes as there is a washer in apartment.

Nearby Amenities

Walk to great restaurants, bakeries, delis, grocery stores, coffee shops, all a matter of five minutes. No need for a car.

The House/Apartment

Building was older but in decent shape. The apartment in excellent condition. It's small and there isn't a lot of wasted space. Shower small but adequate. Tiny refrigerator but fine for our purpose. Only challenge was if one was showering while the other was washing up, the water in the shower slowed to a trickle.

Wonderful, private terrace with a view of the cupola of St. Peters and other church domes. Greenery kept terrace hidden from next door terrace. No pool.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

Minimal furniture (this place is small). Very clean and cleaned again midway through our two weeks. Most used area was the terrace which had four comfortable chairs with cushions. There is a couch in the living/dining area but we didn't use except to stage what we were going to need the next day.

Mattress thin but hard. Slept well on it. Not much else in bedroom, which is very small. Kept suitcases under the bed. Bathroom was fine but not much shelf space.

We only used the kitchen minimally but we found what we needed. Plates, glasses, mugs, sauce pans, coffee maker. This is more for guests who want light meals, not full meals. We tend to eat out for our main meal.

Problems or Bonuses

The place is good value but it's a pied--terre, more for people who are out more than they are in. This is a location, location, location kind of place. It's a terrace that makes you come back. And we did.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

Honest and fair treatment. Onsite person friendly and helpful. Excellent English. Felt it was a good value but often booked up so book early.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

We have stayed there twice. Next time, we plan to rent the place below it (same owner) with two bedrooms and two baths so we can go with friends. I have already recommended it, but it is 75 steps up so the renter needs to be in good shape.

Things to do in this area

Spirito di Vino is three blocks away (ate there three times). Innocenti is one of the best bakeries in Rome and it's just down the block.
