September 2013 my husband, adult daughter and I had nine nights in the Cilento National Park area of Southern Italy in a village called Santa Maria di Castellabate. The villa we booked through a company by the name of Summer in Italy.

The Villa Renata is a two-bedroom, two-bathroom villa with an amazing 70 square meter terrace that is bathed in sun and has wide views over the village to the sea. It is totally private and you do really need a car as it is up a bit of a hill. Plenty of free parking on site and an easy access. The rooms are spacious both bedroom have lovely sea views and open onto the terrace as does the small lounge but to be honest we didn’t even use the lounge we lived on that terrace breakfast, lunch & dinner. There are two bathrooms only one of them has a shower but that was perfectly fine for us. There is a shower outside if you come home from the beach.

The villa has a kitchen which was more than adequate for our needs – we are on holiday so no major cooking was being done. The hosts are delightful but do not really speak English – our daughter spoke Italian so it wasn’t really a challenge for us. They popped in a couple of times to check we were OK and bring delicious fruit from their garden. They also had a bottle of wine (homemade) in the fridge upon arrival.

The villa was spotlessly clean and well maintained, linen was provided.

In the village, which is only 400 meters away, there is a deli which any ‘foodie’ would be in heaven along with a cart in the street that sold the most delicious pastries. Plenty of supermarkets, fruit and vegetable shops along with everything else.

Things to do and see are too numerous to mention here but one highlight for us was the visit to, what we have been told is, one of the oldest medieval villages in Italy just minutes from the villa. Absolutely stunning.

Our booking was all done through Summer in Italy; we are now their biggest fans. In all our years of traveling we have never experienced the level of service provided by these people. We had a travel disruption prior to arrival and it was resolved in a matter of a couple of emails to Luca who is the CEO of this company. When booking I sent Luca an email with the most bizarre wish list and he fulfilled my list and then some. We would not book with any other company. Luca and his entire team are prompt in responding, speak English and can work miracles. Their descriptions, of the accommodations, on their website are so accurate with loads of photos that you know exactly what you are getting. Our Villa was exactly as described – the view defied description...

I would highly recommend both the villa and the booking company.
