Vacation rentals in Italy (villas, farms, estates, agriturismo, apartments)
Review 5648: Agriturismo Cretaiole, Apartment
apartments on a farm near Pienza, Tuscany South
Oct.4-12, 2013, 1 week
Cretaiole is a beautiful farm house located near Pienza, Italy. It is devided into several lovely apartments. My husband and I were traveling with three other couples in Italy for two weeks. Cretaiole was by far our favorite stop. The agritourismo is located in a gorgeous area in Tuscany and is close to many beautiful hill towns.
The town of Pienza is just 5 minutes away. You do need a car to get around the area but this was not a problem for us.
The farm house is old and very accommodating ... we had all the amenities of home.
There was a veranda area where we all met to learn about the area. This was a good spot to catch up on email since it contained a router for WiFi.
There was plenty of room for us to join together. We had most of our breakfasts and dinners in the apartment. The furniture was very comfortable.
The beds were very comfortable and the bathrooms suited us just fine.
Since we were staying at an agritourismo, we were able to pick veggies daily. We cooked pasta and served delicious salads at least five times.
Problems or Bonuses
Our only surprise was that our accommodations were better than we even expected.
Agency and Representatives (and price)
We dealt directly with the owner when we booked our reservations. We corresponded often before our arrival. Isabella speaks beautiful English.
Our hosts made us all very welcome. All sorts of activities were planned during our stay if we chose to participate .... tours to neighboring towns, spas, hikes, shopping, wine tasting, Pici-pasta making class with a fabulous dinner to follow, olive oil tasting ... just to mention a few. Luciano's wine was the best ... we refilled our jugs often :-)
Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?
We hated to leave this wonderful spot. I highly recommend Cretaiole and hope to return soon.
Things to do in this area
My favorite meal was one that we shared with the other guests on the veranda at Cretaiole. Isabella and Carlotta taught us how to make Pici, pasta which we enjoyed along with many other items made by the Moricciani family and staff.
Another great meal was eaten at the Latte de Luna in Pienza on our last night.
