Review 5650: Case Vacanze, Casa di Charme
2bed/2bath apartment in Raito near Vietri Sul Mare, Campania
October 2013, 1 week
Apartment is located in Raito, a hamlet of Vietri Sul Mare. It is in the pedestrian center and close by are two bars, a restaurant and an alimentari. The location is very quiet. There are scenic views to the sea, Vietri Sul Mare and Salerno. There is a hotel in town but aside from the hotel there are only locals in town. There is a local bus stop a few steps from the apartment. To get to the SITA bus or the train one needs to go into Vietri. There is adequate parking along the road into town. Car is recommended.
We have been to the Amalfi Coast many times but this was our first time staying in the Vietri area. The area is convenient for touring the coast and also Pompeii and Paestum. We also visited and enjoyed Salerno and Cava dei Tirreni. Area is beautiful and not as crowded with tourists as the area around Amalfi and Positano.
The building is about 500 years old. It is in great condition. The apartment was completely renovated about five years ago. The apartment has been beautifully restored. The owner, Prospero, is an artist and has restored the frescoes in the apartment and added new wall paintings. If you like art you will love this apartment. It is like a museum, just fabulous.
The apartment is on two levels. Both levels have very high ceilings. Ground level has a small kitchen and large dining area. On this level there is a full bathroom with shower. Shower is not very tall and a very tall person would be uncomfortable. Kitchen is attractive and adequate for preparing simple meals. Good utensils and dinnerware, including Vietri ceramic pieces.
Second floor has a very large living area with sleep sofa (which we did not use). Terrace off the room. Very bright natural light and good lighting for evening. We loved relaxing and reading in this room, it is very inviting, very beautiful. Bedroom is large and comfortable. Very small bathroom en suite.
There is another terrace with small dining table and great views.
All furniture in the apartment is in excellent condition. Apartment was very clean.
You can view the property directly: Casa di Charme.
Problems or Bonuses
The apartment was wonderful. More attractive than the photos on the website and in perfect condition. Prospero is a great host. Very friendly, helpful and generous. We met in Vietri Sul Mare and we followed him up to the apartment in Raito. He set out some pizza slices and pastries and beverages to greet us. He provided us with maps and brochures and information regarding transportation and places to visit.
Agency and Representatives (and price)
The agency Case Vacanza is an Italian agency. Our initial email inquiry was responded to by the apartment owner, Prospero. All subsequent communication was with Prospero who was very quick to respond and who speaks and writes good English. I also telephoned him before making the reservation. No deposit was required in advance but a €100 security deposit was required when we arrived, and was returned to us before we left.
Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?
We plan to stay here again and would recommend it to our friends.
