Review 5739: Views on Venice, Ca' Dell'Artista

Review by bettini from CA

2bed/2bath apartment in Dorsoduro, Venice

June 2014, Five nights

Dell'Artista is in a lovely, quiet neighborhood in Dorsoduro. It is on rio della ermite. The apartment overlooks the canal and has a small terrace that overlooks the canal as well.

Nearby Amenities

Everything one needs is a short walk away including some very fine restaurants.

The House/Apartment

Like much of Venice the building is old, but it has been renovated and is in great shape, apart from the old terrazzo floors that are cracking. The master bedroom is huge and has a well equipped bathroom with a walk in shower. The second bedroom is smaller with twin beds and would be good for two smaller children. There is another large bathroom with a tub off the hallway.

There are two terraces. One was a large garden facing terrace with a table and four chairs. We never used it. The smaller one on the canal was great to stand and watch the activity on the canal below and take in the beauty that is Venice.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

Everything was in good shape. The white slip covers on the two large sofas could use a cleaning.

We only used the master bedroom. The king bed was comfortable and soft-ish by Italian standards. It faced the garden and was very quiet.

My only quibble with both bathrooms is that there is not a lot of storage space to set one's things, but we managed fine.

We didn't cook, but the kitchen had everything you would need. It had an American drip coffee maker, which made us very happy.

Problems or Bonuses

It was surprisingly quiet! Being on the top floor was nice, but meant a few extra steep stairs. Someone with mobility issues might want to think twice.

The air-conditioning was quiet, strong and very welcome!

Agency and Representatives (and price)

Views on Venice was fabulous in every way. They are the best!

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

If you want a well located, large apartment and aren't put off with paying $400/$450 a night, then this could be your place.

Things to do in this area

We Loved being close to La Bitta and ai Artisti.

It was a perfect location for seeing all of Venice.
