Review 5787: Agriturismo La Bruciata, apartment

Review by Dar from PA

apartments on an estate outside Montepulciano, Tuscany South

September-October 2014, 10 days

La Bruciata is an agriturismo with four apartments near Montepulciano. We were a party of six that occupied a one bedroom, one bath apartment and a two bedroom, two bath apartment. The photos on their website are spot on. The furnishings were comfortable, the apartment was clean, and the kitchen was adequately stocked.

The farm itself is gorgeous. Everywhere you turn, the views are spectacular. The grounds are well maintained and beautiful. The setting just oozes tranquility and serenity. If you like to hike, the walk to Monticchiello (1 ˝ hours one way) is fairly easy and you can reward yourself with lunch at La Porta (have Laura make a reservation for you as it gets pretty crowded at lunch). We were lucky enough to still be in residence during the grape harvest this year.

It is a family business run by Laura and her mother, Marisa. I cannot imagine you will find more hospitable hosts than Laura and Marisa. Laura is an attentive and delightful host, who will go out of her way to make your stay at La Bruciata a positive experience. You can ask Laura anything…she will sell you their wine, a jar of tomato passata, give you a recipe, directions, inter alia.

Marisa is an extraordinary cook. If you happen to stay at La Bruciata, you would be remiss if you didn’t stay for a couple of Marisa’s outstanding dinners. Breakfast every morning was delicious.

La Bruciata is a perfect base to explore southern Tuscany. But I warn you, you will be so content at La Bruciata that you may not want to leave!
