2bed/1bath apartment in Cannaregio, Venice WhenMay 2003, 7 nights LocationWe felt we had the best location in Venice. In the residential Cannaregio, on a beautiful canal, almost all the way out to the lagoon, by the classic Tre Archi Bridge, right by a waterbus stop. Away from the madding crowd, but plenty of nearby shops and restaurants. Nearby AmenitiesEasy walk down the canal to a major farmer's market kind of area; plenty of small grocers nearby. The House/Apartment3 apartments, I think. This one is the top floor, with truly amazing views of the canal, sunsets, lagoon, boat traffic. The sounds of Venice waft up--neighbors singing, boats sloshing--the music of an Italian city. GardenNo garden, no pool, no balcony. But the living room with two large windows looking over the canal was spacious, bright, and did the job nicely. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasBasic furnishings, in good shape, sparkling clean, comfortable. Bedrooms/BathroomsBedrooms are just fine. One is a bit larger than the other. Roomy queen beds in each. We stayed in the larger bedroom and paid a little more than the couple we shared the apartment with. They reported being pleased with the smaller room. The larger room is a little brighter and all we could ask.The one bathroom was in great shape in every way. If one bathroom is enough for two couples, then it's enough--that's a personal decision. But everyone wants to get going in the morning, so I'm not sure more than two couples is a good idea. Plus people sleeping in the living room would be in the way. We'd all go to bed at different times and wake up at different times, in part to share the bathroom, and the living room is a very pleasant place to hang out when others are sleeping or in the bathroom. KitchenThe kitchen was in wonderful shape in every way. The couple we were with included a gourmet cook, and he was delighted with the place. So we picked up lots of fresh food and enjoyed cooking. Problems or BonusesLocation, location, location. We covered an awful lot of Venice and continually gloated about how we were living in the perfect place. When we packed and left, we felt like we were leaving home. Really. Agency and Representatives (and price)We dealt with the owners, who were wonderful before, during and since. No one on site; none needed--owners gave us quick response from England when we needed it. Local maid does a great job. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?Unqualified, enthusiastic endorsement. I hope my kids honeymoon here! Things to do in this areaHey, this is Venice.
