3 bed/3 bath apartment on an estate in Tuscany. Three other 1 bed/1 bath apartments are available on the estate.

We rented our villa from September 9-23, 2000. I booked it from the web site. This is an excellent web site, offering good visuals and descriptions of all the villas they offer for rent. We booked directly from the owners, Joe and Mary Jo Zingale. We stayed in the apartment called Adorno in the Villa Paterno. The villa is located in the town of Londa, 18 miles from Florence. The location is quite beautiful and the views from the villa are just wonderful. The Zingales make their own wine and olive oil and there are views of the vineyard from the villa. As in most of Tuscany, it is all hills and valleys, and all very green.

The villa is located a short ride from the center of Londa, although I would not consider it walking distance, especially as the roads are all very curvy. Londa is a small village, but it contains a supermarket, bank and variety store. There is also an excellent pottery shop in the center, owned and operated by a young lady who makes beautiful things. There are restaurants in the town and a lake. The villa itself is lovely. There are 3 apartments within it. It is a 350-year-old stone house, and beautifully maintained.

We had a large, eat-in kitchen, with all the conveniences, including a dishwasher. There were two separate sitting areas, one with a fireplace, two bedrooms (l w/double bed, l w/twin beds) and a completely modern bathroom w/shower. All the rooms had terracotta floors. Especially nice is that the apartment windows have screens, usually unheard of in Italy. There is no washer or dryer, but there is a service in a nearby town, which is very convenient. They do a great job for very little dollars. All the furniture is in good condition and the rooms were very comfortable. It is really furnished nicely. The exterior is also well furnished, with tables and chairs, and chaise lounges. There are more than enough for all the apartments. Parking is no problem.

The Zingales are wonderful to deal with. They will supply you with detailed directions to the villa and all the information you will need while you are staying there, including local restaurants and services. They have an ancient villa themselves nearby and they invited all the tenants down for a tour. Their pool is lovely and is available for use by all the guests. In fact, they have recently received the permits and they intend to build pools at all their villas. I cannot recommend this place more highly. It was exactly as advertised and the setting cannot be improved upon. It is wonderful to use as a home base to visit many of the surrounding Tuscan cities and towns.
