Review 610: Summer In Italy, Villa Michela
4bed/2bath house in Meta di Sorrento, Campania
June 21 - 27, 2003, 1 week
I just got back from a week at Villa Michela in Meta. We loved it. Everyone thought the place was lovely. Such a unique place to stay in the cliffs over the beach. We ate at the local restaurants each night and were probably the only English speaking people there. Just what we wanted. Even though we didn't really speak Italian everyone was helpful and willing to translate as best they could.
We took the Circumvesuviana (local train) to Pompei, Hercolano, and Sorrento; the bus to Amalfi; and the ferry to Capri. We had no problems with any of the local transportation. The villa was located perfectly for visiting all the sights in the Sorrento/Naples area. We didn't have a car and didn't need one!
The owners were wonderful. When we got a little confused on arrival, they sent a taxi to get us. They also called a taxi for us when we left. When accidentally turned off the hot water for the villa without knowing it, they responded to my note on their door within a couple of hours. AND they brought us pastries on our first morning. A welcome treat!
I would recommend Villa Michela and Summer in Italy to anyone!!!
