apartments near Bevagna, Umbria WhenAug 16 - 23, 2003, 1 Week LocationThis rental was located just 1 km. from Bevagna, which is a small village. It sits on the hillside overlooking Assisi and Spello and at night the views were simply magical. Most times we were the only people at the pool which made it feel like home. Nearby AmenitiesI rode into town a couple of times with the bikes provided, this was a great bonus! Bevagna has a few alimentaries and quite a few good restuarants given the size of the town. The House/ApartmentThe house was of fairly new construction as the renovation was completed 3 years ago. Rino, the owner, did a fabulous job in creating the perfect place for this amazing location. The house consists of 4 apartments, 1 on each side of the house. GardenEach apartment had their own private terrace area, which was perfect for having dinner at night. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasThe furniture was all lovely and the seating was great. Everything was very clean. Bedrooms/BathroomsThe kids' beds were comfortable, but the bed in our room was more than a little hard, which is better than sinking but still not the most comfortable bed in town for us anyways. There were 2 beautiful bathrooms in the apartment, a big plus when traveling with 2 teenagers! KitchenThe kitchen was great, 2 sinks and an oven. More than enough of everything and cooking was a pleasure, probably better than most peoples' kitchens at home. Problems or BonusesPoggia all Luna has been a fantastic base for visiting many of Umbria's charming hilltowns, Spello, Spoleto, Asissi, Orvieto, Todi and of course Bevagna! Rino was a completely charming host, he gave us many restuarant recommendations for the area, and also picking up an espresso maker for us when we noticed the apartment didn't contain one. There is also a washing machine available for use! This apartment was pretty much perfect, if I were to build a place I would copy it! Rino knows how to do it right, from the small welcome package of cookies, wine and water to the fresh lavender on the pillows - really well done! A few of my favorite things: #1 Favorite thing about Poggia all Luna was the overwhelming smell of lavender and rosemary that the property is covered in- nothing like it at all! #2. Screens on the windows- say no more! #3. Riding bikes in the Umbrian countryside, one day I rode 15 km. and had the best time just enjoying the scenery around me. #4. Fans in the bedrooms, completely necessary during the heatwave of the century! #5. Seeing Assisi sparkling at night kind of does something to you, can't quite explain it. #6. Rino! Agency and Representatives (and price)Rented directly with the owner Rino. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?Yes I would stay there again, and have already recommended it to friends who are going in Oct. Things to do in this areaWe toured many of the Umbrian hilltowns, however there is a lot to be said for just relaxing by the pool smelling lavender all afternoon. Most of the time we were in complete lounge mode! Our favorite places in Bevagna were Ottavious, Da Nina, and Enoteca Piazza Onofri. Check resturant reviews for more info.
