apt. in Florence, sleeps 4, Florence WhenJune18,2003 to June 25,2003, one week LocationThis was a very secure building (iron gates)and private(small lift). It is located on Lungarno Vespucci, three bridges west of the Ponte Vecchio (15min. walk). Our balcony overlooked the Arno. We liked the area, because it was easy to find our way around. The apartment has a true old-world flavor. It was nicely furnished, mostly antiques, and was well equipped ie. full kitchen freezer, wash machine, etc. Excellent air conditioning. The owner was organized and gave excellent attention to detail. There was a couple living in the building if assistance was needed. Nearby AmenitiesThere are coffee shops and grocery stores nearby, also restaurants were plentiful. We had a heavy load at the grocery store once and it took awhile to find a taxi, but that was north of the Ponte Vecchio. Restaurants were right around the corner, as were cafes. The grocery store was a 15 min. walk. The House/ApartmentThe building was large and older, and in nice shape. There was a concierge on hand until noon. I would guess that there were 20 large apartments in the building. GardenYes, there was an outdoor courtyard. It was probably shared, no pool. We had a spacious balcony, so we did not use the courtyard. Bedrooms/BathroomsThere was a large bedroom with a queen sized bed...very comfortable. The bathroom was adequate, clean and plenty of hot water (heater mounted above, automatic). The living room doubled as a second bedroom with two daybeds. All sleeping areas were air-conditioned. KitchenDefinately a very usable kitchen. Excellent refridge with freezer. Cooking would be no problem. One could easily cook for four. Plenty of pots, pans, glasses, dishes and utensils. Problems or BonusesNo problems..one bonus, we paid the owner an extra 20 Euro and had a telephone at our disposal. Agency and Representatives (and price)Treated very well...they were professional and prompt. Once we decided on the apartment, the agency introduced us to the owner, and we dealt with her from then on. Everyone spoke and wrote English. It was all we expected and then some. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?I would recommend these apartments and would definitely stay there again. Things to do in this areaAll you need is a map...everything is fairly easy to find once you get your directions straight. Profeta was one of our favorite restaurants, we went there twice. Great warm and friendly service. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
